Trying to decide whether it's an effect of my lungs clearing or too much vaping.
just to set the scene, 45, I've smoked about 10 a day all my adult life, mostly abstained all day then chain smoked on an evening. Hardly ever get ill, probs get 1 cold a year which 9/10 amounts to nothing and goes pretty quick, so I'm healthy. Started vaping 3 months ago, never smoked since. Thing is, I feel I vape a lot more than I smoked, still only on an evening, but it's pretty much constant for a few hours.
The last few months/weeks I've noticed an irritation on my lungs/wind pipe/throat and a niggly cough, both nothing major, just slight and in the background. wondering whether I'm over doing the vaping or it's the lungs starting to recover
Anyone else had/have this? or some similar experience?.

Hi Hoppers what mg are you vaping? I had a bit of a dry cough when I stopped smoking. Think it is your lungs getting rid of all the muck that's been there for the amount of time that you have smoked but as always is the case, if you're worried a quick visit to the docs will put your mind at ease

Like Sue said, if you are worried visit your doctor. But I found high PG and high Nic juices could really hit me in the throat and dry it out making it feel a bit irritable. I've also found some liquids can leave a bit of a coating on my throat which can make me cough a little sometimes.
Finally yes, if you haven't smoked for months you lungs are cleaning themselves now and starting to move the tar in your lungs, out of your lungs. It could well be smokers cough as well (although generally first thing in the morning is more common for that.)

Hi I'm on Decadent vapours and buy 11mg.
I'd probably describe it as like a smokers cough (or like I imagine it, never had one as a smoker), not a proper cough.

I had a cough when I stopped smoking about 6 to 8 weeks into vaping lasted about a week to 10 days but nothing bad. If you have a cough that has lasted that long I would get it checked out to be on the safe side. I had a cough that lasted 3 months last year and ended going to the doctor, he gave me sh*t! then sent me for xrays had to wait 4 days for the results was scared sh*tless but thankfully everything was okay

I had a tickly, irritating little cough for a while after I quit smoking and started vaping. It wasn't like the morning cough I had when I was still smoking, which was deeper, more like an itchy throat. I still get it every once in a while, usually in the late evening. I think it's to do with not drinking enough water, the PG is dehydrating my throat and I get the tickly throat. Try upping your liquid intake and see how you go. But if you're worried, go see your doc.

I get the tickly cough at intervals of 3 weeks, 3weeks on 3 weeks off , accompanied by runny nose, eyes watering. This causes me to have sleepless nights, sometimes there is white bubble like phlegm., other times it is just a dry irritating cough.
I was hoping it would clear up when I stopped smoking but it hasn't. The Dr said it never will because the damage is already done from smoking, damage to the alveoli on the lungs cannot be replaced. I have to add that I do have mild COPD, that is an umbrella term for all things pulmonary, bronchitis/asthma, I had been smoking for 50 yrs, so I would not think that any of you with just a tickly cough have anything to worry about.

Ack. That sounds awful Phoenix.
I have to say that I had a very nasty hacking cough for a while when I 1st started - mainly the 2nd week - which I remember posting a similar worried post about on here and it's now passed completely. It got so bad I couldn't sleep due to a tickly cough every 15 minutes and nothing shifted it.
I suspect time, plus a swig of water after a vaping session definitely helps for most people.

I do drink about 1-2 litres of water a day, can't manage any more with all the tea and 2 cups of coffee a day

I had the same thing after a month or so and found it was the PG in the E-Juice. I can tolerate about 50/50 PG, VG but anymore and I have a sore throat by the end of the day.

3 months in doesn't sound like the lungs recovering to me. Maybe you just have a bit of a cough - there's a lot going around.
That said, I seem to be coughing more than I was 3 months ago (I'm 7 months in), and I've been using more VG lately and a thirsty clearo, so I am wondering if its a cough or the vaping.

Hoppers, its probably your body detoxing the tobacco etc.
One time when I quit I had a dreadful cough, throat, mouth & nose ulcers for about 6 weeks. It was very miserable, made worse by the fact I never had a smoker's cough when I was chugging 40/50 a day.
