Another Carto filling question.

Received my Riva today and I am following Romelee's guide on setting it up.

Just watched the condom method video on youtube, but have a question.

In the video it is clear to see the filler is completely soaked as the guy is using a dark juice.

The one I am trying first is Grizwald's Old Holby (love the smell already) and it is quite light in colour, so I cannot tell if it has been completely soaked through.

So from a 5ml sample bottle how much would be left in the bottle to assume the carto is completely filled? I'd say I have used just under half of the bottle so around 2-2.5ml. Should that be enough?

Also going on further into the video he talks about topping off but he is using a dry carto?

Totally confused now? Why is he using a different carto to top off?

Hi mark,

I would say a Cartomizor takes about 1.5ml depending on brand as some take less some take more but 1.5 is usually enough.


When you used the condom method as per video you should see some form of wetness on the sponge, if not top off with some juice until soaked and leave to rest, once rested blow from top of Carto so any juice in the middle tube has gone.

With the video i think he is just showing how to top it off, don't worry if he is using a new Carto

I think I have done it correctly, the sponge does look wet if I compare it to an unfilled carto.

It's been resting for around the 20 minutes you describe in your guide, so I guess I'm more or less good to go now.

Well first impressions are it isn't exactly Old Holborn, but it is definitely a rolling tobacco taste and hit.

Liquids can be hit or miss, you either love it or hate it,bit like marmite, finding the one you love is the key


For me i don't like anything that tastes like tobacco, i love the sweet liquids, not too sweet though as it becomes sickly for all day use

At the moment i am vaping Banoffee Cream as i have five days steeping left for my Mint Choco Chip

Well so far after about 10 hits I think it will suit my purposes perfectly.

Very much a tobacco taste though, but I'm a heavy smoker and so it was kind of what I was looking for to get me off the roll ups.

Thank you for all your help Romelee and everyone else. It's been invaluable and you have all definitely pointed me in the right direction.

Will try the fruitier flavours when I am not picking up the Rizla any more, which hopefully started 20 minutes ago.

Well I filled the clearo with Caramel Tabac.
Not sure if it has to do with the different flavours or type of cartridge, but I definitely prefer the carto and old holby.

The caramel tabac in the clearo seems a tad bitter in taste.

As a fellow Marmite lover, I'd have a go on that one too.

Edited to add. I have sussed what rolling tobacco the Old Holby reminds me of now. It's more Amber Leaf than Old Holborn to me.
