Can you replace the wicks instead of the whole head and why are some wicks short and some long?

You can indeed re-coil/wick them Dowden, this is one of the many tutorials that there are around . . .
The short wicks are V1 and the longer wicks are V2.

Can you replace the wicks instead of the whole head and why are some wicks short and some long? You can re-wick/coil a Nova yourself. I've not done one for a few weeks, but I did 2 Vision V3s yesterday. As for length of wick, I am gradually getting shorter with mine. Long wicks should reach the bottom of the tank etc. but I have found they don't wick well enough without swoooshing the liquid around. Because I do that now (unconsciously, almost), I am keeping them short. Less wasted liquid and more room to allow the juice to move around the tank. Then again, that might be just an OCD approach to what is essentially a pointless question. As long as the juice gets to the wick, the length is immaterial. I have wick and wire from Cloud9vaping (Lisa - best wishes )) and from Vape-Space.

You can actually double coil them, arrange the coils so that one is just above the other and twist the wires together. If you have two coils that are 2.8 ohms each you end up with a reading of 1.4 ohms. You get an incredible amount of vapour from an already very good atomiser. There are vids on youtube. I have done it myself and can recommend it. You may have to trim the silicone top thing as with two wicks there may be more pressure where the wicks go through the slots causing a bit of strangulation As for the long wicks/short wicks thing, there is very little difference between them, I use long ones to help keep the wick wet, but the jury is out on whether it makes any significant difference.

I'd like to attempt this rewicking, certainly seems much cheaper than purchasing new bits all the time. not so sure about the material wicks myself[ durability etc just my 2p] probably old news here but there's a a guy on yt making metal wick for the vivi nova. could be an option OP.
I wondered if any good...

You make the coils first, then place one under the other, not touching the other coil. Hold them and bend the wires downwards and twist the wires at either side of the coils so that the coils maintain the same position while you are fitting them. Then just install the coil as if it was a single one, being very careful that you have no shorts. Very Basically the coils would look like this
