I find a lot of people on various forums saying 'take a slow, long draw''. I see it a lot in video reviews too. Whenever I try this though, i find the coil heats up to the point where my inhale tastes very odd and burns my throat. It almost feels for a few seconds my throat is completely dry...and the taste that follows is horrible :S Personally i 've found vaping in shorter bursts gives a tastier vape that doesn't end up in a spoilt flavour and bad taste. Could this purely be down to the clearo I use not wicking the juice quick enough for a long slow drag, resulting in me inhaling mostly just hot air and burnt coil fumes? All in all its not a problem...I just avoid long slow draws. I'm just curious as to how you guys vape

It sounds like the wattage could be too high

A lot of people find that the technique to vaping is very different to smoking. With a cig you take a quick deep drag, and pull it as far into the lungs as possible then blow out the smoke. With vaping you need to take a long (3-4 second) slow draw. Keep the vapour in your mouth and throat for a couple of seconds (this is where the nic is absorbed) then either inhale it or simply exhale, prefereably through the nose which helps with the flavour

I'm not sure how fast I vape. I usually find out when the room starts spinning. In all seriousness, I counted to 6 seconds when I was taking a drag of my ecig. Not sure if I do that every time or not, not really noticed.

Shouldnt taste burnt after a long drag. hmm are you pretty new to vaping? - EDIT just noticed ur banner. doh! it could be that you're just not used to it yet? what juice are you using (flavour/mg) - could be too harsh. ???

On my eGo, I tend to draw a couple of qick tokes to build up the amount of vapour before I do a longer toke that I inhale, but my "long toke" is about half the length you see on video reviews.
When I'm using the ProVari or the Zmax, because I use a higher voltage, I don't need the quick starter tokes as I get plenty of vapour straight off.
Because I have to do the starter tokes on the ego, I am propbably wasting more juice than with the other MODs, but what the hell, that is just the way I do it.

I don't think there's a "right" way to do it. Whatever works for you.
Personally I mostly use 1.3 ohm dual coil Novas, usually take a longish drag with air beside it, on 50% VG juice on a Vamo at 7 or 7.5 watts; or a longer drag on pure PG juice on a lavatube at about 3.3 volts.

The problem here from the OP sounds like the clearomiser is not wicking well enough. Causing a dry hit.

It must be wick...maybe my interpretation of slow is too slow and my normal drag is OK Just tried messing with the SR cartos I have and I can take as long and slooooow draw as I wish with no burning. I'm guessing with the clearo however that with a wick design it just doesn't soak up quick enough for the heating of the liquid. If I were to take a 'sloooow' 3-6 second drag I can feel the warmth of the coil and air coming into my mouth heating up a lot. I also noticed that if I don't give it long in between draws and do it again straight away, its even worse. If i am to suck harder, even as long as 4-6 seconds, it doesn't do this (as often). Is the larger amount of air cooling the coil as I suck I wonder.. My mixes tend to be 50/50 and a few at 80pg/20vg. I wonder why no one else seems to have this happen though :S Does anyone with a standard v3 style clear want to give it a go? Take a soft slow long draw and see what happens?

I do small little drags as well, otherwise i cough.
That guy on eCig reviews seems to be sucking forever, almost his whole lung capacity imo. He even stops and sucks more before taking down whats in his mouth. If that was a real cig it would be over in a few of his puffs.
Even with real cigs etc i couldn't take a massive drag, i find some people are just greedy/wasteful

I have to admit I hardly think about it when I'm doing it, but I know I do it differently depending on the kit and juice. Some of my cartos need a quick puff then a long pull, some get hot quick so it's little puffs. It also depends on what I'm doing, when I'm working it's frequent little puffs on a carto with some 70/30, if I'm relaxing it's a CE5 and some 50/50 vaped more like smoking a pipe. I think you just have to suck it and see

I just do what works at the time. Every day is an adventure in vaping land ;-)
At the moment doing huge drags on my mvp and Nova mini because the head is almost dead and I'm at work so got to make do for now. I've got my Gripper as backup though so no biggie.
