Change one thing at a time Linzi! If you start to drink more water and start loads of different vitamins, then feel better, you'll not know which one helped

I'm struggling with dehydration at the moment. I'm a big lad (but actually losing the weight I put on while not working at the moment). I vape quite a bit, suffer insomnia, and take multiple medications which dehydrate. On top of this I now work in a care home for the elderly which is kept at what seems like tropical temperatures to me. I'm currently drinking about 3-4 litres of liquid a day (and not passing any more than before I was working and drinking 1.5-2 litres) and probably still need more - dehydration is a real bugger.

If you have a good varied diet then most vits wont help. By the time you feel thirsty you are bout 10% dehydrated, also dehydration can make you feel hungry even if your body doesnt need the calories. From experience(I have a medical condition which if I get too dehydrated can cause my body to shut down within 24hrs)it doesnt take much dehydration to make you feel tired as your body is taking from your muscles etc to move the water to more vital areas. Any liquids will help not just water well apart from alcohol.

You can tell if you are getting sufficient fluids from the colour of your urine. Poo has been discussed earlier on this thread, so permit me to chat about wee-wees?
If you are properly hydrated, your wee sould be very pale in colour, straw-like or almost clear and odourless. The darker it is and the more it smells, the more you need to take fluid on board. Simples!
Dehydration will cause your body to hold onto any water at all, hence an apparent weight gain and bloating of the abdomen etc.
HTH.

Also a fascinating fact for wee wee Men did you know if you take a pregnancy test and it's positive you probably aren't pregnant. But you might have testicular cancer. male positive pregnancy test

OMG what have I started here and how did we get on to poo and wee wee lol!!!! You may or may not have yet noticed, Linzmac, that we use any excuse on this forum to bring the tone down. Very quickly. My 3 year old is at the lavatorial humour stage at the minute where every conversation is interjected with either 'poo-poo' or 'wee-wee' i.e. "I'm going to have cake for dinner, Daddy. You are going to have poo-poo cake', which she thinks is utterly hilarious, so I suppose it's on my mind a lot lately. Sorry! (Daddy didn't really have poo-poo cake for his dinner)

Ok so it's been 5 days since I first posted about this...thought I'd give you all an update. Have more or less doubled my water intake (yes good old tap water not fruit juice or anything else)....have lost 3.5lbs and don't feel so tired or sluggish....woohoo happy to see a difference in both and will keep going down this path for now!!! Thanks for all your advice/opinions and comments....even yours Sam, it gave me a chuckle!!
