I know I spent a lot of money on fags while I was smoking, but apart from on holiday when I was laying aside holiday money for the Duty Frees on the way home, I never really gave a lot of thought to "fag money" at any other time.
Now that I am vaping, I do keep a record of what I am spending and while it is nothing like the amounts that fags cost me, I am still conscious that I am building up a kit that will last me well into the future. And now, apart from a stash of chemicals to do me for the next few years, I have reached about the limit of equipment that I could possibly want, given that I still only have two hands and one mouth.
So, apart from the odd replacement for a part that goes phutt, I no longer need to trawl the Forum for new and second hand equipment, new e-juice flavours, special offers and co-op buys. And while these will catch my eye from time to time, there is no longer the urgency that I have had for the last 3 or 4 months.
Now I am not saying that I am difting away from the Forum, more just a case of perhaps not reading as many letters, topics or sections that I used to.
Vaping is becoming more like the way I used to smoke. Just something I do almost without thinking about and I am sure that many others are in the same boat.
I think it is a good thing for the Forum to have a constant turn over of members. It is good to hear Newbies stories of how they have come to vaping and it is also good to hear from members that have been Forum Members for a while, drifted away, but come back from time to time to tell us how they are still vaping, but getting on with their lives and doing other things as well.

I think that is what I should do, maybe just checking every now and then for updates/new products/recipe's.
But whether I will be able to let go I'm not sure as I still find the chat both interesting and humorous

I'm not going anywhere either. I very much stick to the social side of this place. I think there are 2 types of members on here. Those who just use vaping as a substitute for smoking snd a means to an end (thats me) Then there are those who treat it as a real hobby and very enthusiastic about everything vaping. I do get the impression sometimes that the enthusiasts get a little miffed at the social side of the forum. Only a small amount but there nevertheless. Then you get these times when arguements blow up. People take sides and do the flouncing off and taking their ball with them. Usually followed by a few "pals" leaving a bit of a hole. But within a few weeks it blows over some return others don't but there will always be new people jumping aboard.
I think it is just the essence of an ordinary community.

I do love how OH goes 'Oh, you can't buy anything else, you can't afford it' when I've spent about £80-100.....when I used to spend £300 a month...
I'll be here, mainly cos I like it here, I like to post reviews and I do like to dribble at the shineys

Dolly, I'm like you. I got into e-cigs for a reason, and the kit I've got is doing the job fine. I've no intention of going after the shineys, but there are others here that do, and all power to them... it is a vaping forum after all.
Have noticed that I usually only respond to the social topics rather than the technical, as they don't interest me.
Regarding the OP I'm assuming that once the initial flush of success or failure burns out, we all get on with our lives where there's enough problems to occupy our time.

To me it's just a fact of life people get interested in a new thing that comes on the market and want to give a try some stick with it some don't. And it may take someone more than once before they give up smoking using e-cigs so will always come back to the forum. Some are lonely being on their own, or a relationship has just broken down and have a common interest, is e-cigs so have something they can talk about, have a laugh and some banter. And then there's the member's only board where we can discuss problem's we may be experiencing if that is what a member want's to do and to get some feedback, but me I'm all for positive feedback. And their's Chrisjw forum would not be the same if he was to leave, and it's always good to have new blood so to speak joining the forum.
So then again Oneday I could be babbling mince.

I'm the same. If I want to talk vaping to anyone, then the Forum is the only place that I can.
Saying that, 2 locals have approached me in the last few days wanting to know more about vaping and where they can get e-cig kits.
And at Lunchtime today I asked if I could vape in the local Bistro and was told, "Vape away to your hearts content, it is welcomed here!"
So folks if your looking for a nice lunch and your touring up this way, Rosneath Castle Caravan Park Bistro is the place to go for eats and vaping.
By he by, does anyone know where I can get the "vaping pub" map?
