Hi All. Using AGA-T2 with s/s wick, after several days usage the juice is turning very dark in the tank. Also flavour change , What is happening ? Is this normal.??? ??? Plenty of vapour, taste change.?? Thanks for your answers. jeffc.

A lot of mine do that Jeff and that's not using a Genesis set up . . . the type of flavours you vape will make a difference as to what degree they caramelize when heated.

I have recently found that with Hangsen juice (that I have just tried for first time) - light colour in bottle, dark colour in tank (CE5). Not noticed it with other makes of juice.

I am mainly using fruit and dessert flavours. ie. GVC,Egg custard, strawberry. Should I switch over too `silica wicks for these and keep s/s wicks purely for tobacco types and menthol ???, or am I overheating the juices at 8 watts with 2.0 ohms coil?? Thanks. jeffc.

I have an ongoing juice (you probably know, one where you just keep topping it up, days on end, never cleaning or dry burning or anything).....and the juices go very dark, maybe worryingly so.... It's either gunk darkening the liquid or the juice self-steeping. My homemade butterscotch (I think you tried it, although definitely not steeped enough) is getting very dark and even darker after a few days in an ongoing clearo.

I have noticed this too, put it down to my chain vaping and the centre post getting warm so slightly cooking the juice. This is in mini-nova's with a 2.4ohm head.
Mostly I vape pure caramel, choc caramel or expresso so they are brownish to start with.

The stronger coloured juices get darker quicker and wondered if some of it was colouring just getting more concentrated. My strawberry for example goes a very deep bright red. The flavouring concentrate starts of a similar colour. I now use a clear strawberry concentrate and there is no discolouration at all as it gets used up, others seem to burn but not all. What I often do when the last few drops left are dark is just pour it out of the tank and then refill.

At first I thought the ss wick in my aga was darkening my juices and that worried me then after using a normal vivi instead of an stv I realised all my juices in all my tanks did that! Phew! Was worried I would get rustyitis or something! Don't worry about it. Chris.

I get some juices turn dark even in clearos. I put it down to it being in sunlight for a few days. (By sunlight I mean daylight, because this is the UK.)

Don't think it would make much difference tbh Jeff, some eliquids just have a tendency to do that more than others, though I do prefer my dessert/candy vapes on Silica rather than SS as I found that stripped the flavour out of them, for me anyway. Try it and see what you think.

Backwash is very common, juice is vaporised and caramelised and any that isnt inhaled travels back down the wick into the tank, eventually the tank darkens and fills up with liquid that has been stripped of its flavour in the heating process which in turn taints the rest of the tank, the different flavour is just plain VG/PG. SS wicks will eventually get too dirty and taint any juice put in a clean tank, just make your coil changes when it gets noticeable. New wicks and coils are like new bed sheets, glorious

Thanks to you all. I shall wrap myself in a new set up, and enjoy. jeffc Just made new set up using .25 kanthal wire (first time usage) with 4 wraps giving 1.5 ohms. Doddle to make coil with this thicker wire, using DBM. Reburned wick as new. Thanks again everyone for your normal "Spot On Advice".
