I bought a new Podcast app on my Note 2 yesterday because apparently the new provider for the podcast downloads has restricted them to iTunes only or their own video player. Now being in IT, iTunes is known as Satan's software along with anything by Symantec (Norton) and Adobe. So I won't use it. Luckily there are ways and mean to circumvent the restriction with certain podcast apps on Android, but damn them they've also broken my Podcast feed on my PC software So if we are stuck with this provider that wants you to only use iTunes or their own video player (that'll never happen either!) anyone know some good PC podcasting software that will allow me to set the agent to iTunes and let me download the podcasts again to play in mediaplayer or VLC? Unfortunately streaming live is out of the question with my steam driven ADSL connection Edit: Decided to add a ? at the end of the title because I wouldn't want to accuse anyone of breaking anything unless I'm sure

So stop being precious and use iTunes. iTunes is crap though and it's not just because of my Apple hatred. It's bloated and slow as well as really annoying to use. Hated it from the first version and each successive version gets worse IMHO. By all means install that crap on your PC, I'll keep mine bloatware free thanks (well apart from Windows heheh )

Can you use a Youtube downloader? Ah good thinking, yes I've got one in Firefox. It would be a manual download rather than automatic from a feed but easily doable as I have the codecs for flash videos in Mediaplayer Edit: Might have to convert the .flv files to something my phone can use because the new software I'm having to use on the phone is dreadful as well. And fortunately there's no way I can run iTunes on my phone hehe Ho-hum and extra hour or so of work everyday to convert and copy. It was so much easier to watch the podcasts before yesterday.

By all means install that crap on your PC, I'll keep mine bloatware free thanks (well apart from Windows heheh ) I don't use iTunes, or Windows, or any Apple OS, but if I need to, I would. I'll come clean, I hate Apple, everything about them and everything they stand for. It's been a long and passionate hatred which has increased over the recent years to a total refusal to give them any money at all or to support them in anyway. But I'd struggle to install and Apple OS even if I wanted to being an Windows PC and Android user. And you really need to try iTunes to experience it... it really is that bad But anyway, I was perfectly happy with the original format neutral provider that was used until recently. Truth be told if it's now a choice between Apple software/ hardware and watching VTTV then VTTV will have lost a viewer, doubt I'm the only one either. Shame but hopefully it will be sorted soon. Maybe the developers of the podcast apps are mistaken but as both my podcasts apps (a a couple of others I tried on the phone) suddenly stop downloading the feed, I doubt it's the fault of the software.

So you slate itunes and use firefox - boggled Not by choice, just for youtube downloads. And at least Firefox doesn't require me to register my machine to it for DRM purposes and then take 30% of everything I buy through it for themselves. It also loads very quickly, unlike iTunes and is a completely different piece of software for a different purpose.

The good news is Dave Dorn isn't aware of any restrictions so will look into it for me. Bless him I hope my info was wrong and I'll just end up looking silly, if not I either miss VTTV or go to bed late hehe

Can't help I'm afraid.
I avoid iTunes as much as possible. In fact, my main PC (which is a kind of half PC, half recording studio) isn't even allowed to meet Mr Apple. I like it that way.
If I had to mess around with wav files and mp3s, not to mention pro tools, cubase and Sibelius AND use iTunes, I'd rather leave it switched off.
Let me ignite the touchpaper and make a run for it.

A recording studio without apple is like a cigarette without smoke. Eh? Hold on a minute!
