I have just read pages of stuff about e-cigarettes and am now just confused lol. Of course I have heard of them, but I am now seriously looking into them on behalf of my mum and still do not know what is best to buy. My mum is now 71 years old and has COPD. Unfortunately, she still has the odd cigarette and after spending 4 weeks in America with friends, smoked quite alot. On her return to the UK, her COPD flared up and she has just spent a night in hospital as her oxygen levels were 'dangerously low' and she hadn't eaten for five days. Reading between the lines, I do not think she will give up smoking, so I have told her that my brother and I will get her started on e-cigs as surely these will be better for her to smoke than the 'real' thing? Anyway, my serious search began and there are so many that I don't know what to do lol I was going to take the plunge and just order these ones but thought I had better check here first.
Now the thing is, my mum does not have a computer (or any technology) so USB accessories will not be of use to her and of course money will be an issue as will ordering replacements (but my brother or I will have to sort the ordering/buying between us)
There is so much to read, that I decided to write this message instead, to see what advice any of you can offer us. Thanks alot for your time

Hello Lynn The skycig kit isn't bad value on that offer but refills and replacement batteries will be very expensive! Does the e-cig have to look like a real cigarette? The better kits come with bigger batteries, but work out much better value in the long term. Don't worry about her not having a computer. all e-cigs do charge through a USB but you can pick up a mains plug or hub to plug them into for under £5.

Thanks so much all. I have sent a link to this page to my brother, so he can check out the suggestions too and also show my mum what it's all about. I will let you know what happens

Hi lyn. Mmmm you really dont want anything to fiddly as i imagine filling bits with liquid and changing heads etc will be too difficult for her.
Could be that you just get the best of the lookalikes but as said above it out almost as expensive as normal cigs and she will be changing batteries every few hours.
Right everyone what about 2 ego batts, charger and then just buy pre filled carts so all she has to do is screw them on?
If you or your brother are with her quite a lot you could always buy empty carts and liquids and then fill up a load of them while you are there to keep her going till you see her again.
Not sure what would be the best route for you here.

Hello & welcome Lynn As Karma says, you can buy a Mains USB adapter plug easily - tesco's sell them for £3.95.

Wow, thanks again all for all comments and welcomes Still waiting to hear back from my brother. No, I don't think it has to look like a cigarette, but we shall see. My brother lives the closest to my mum (I live 2 hrs away)

Hi Lynn sorry to hear about your Mum and I hope she's feeling better soon, best of luck with finding her something to help beat the urge to fire up a smoke.

Give her a disposable and if she likes it, go for something like an ego.
I am affraid it will be a case of letting your mum decide if she will like it or not. I have found with older family members of mine that "you cant teach an old dog new tricks". not that I live by that as everyone can change if they want to.
All the best!
