I'm a relatively light vaper since I only vape before and after work but my 4 week old CE4 is turning my fresh juice very dark brown when I refill.
Flavour isn't great but it's still giving me a good throat hit and satisfying my cravings. Is the clearo done or just in need of a wash?
Until my new tank kit arrives I'm loathe to clean it as I'd have to go without for a day or two and I don't want the temptation of some stinkies!
What's your opinion - sorry for the noob question - this has probably been answered a thousand times before!,

when the tank gets there, first try giving the clearo a good washout, and if it's a non-rebuildable type, give it a good 24-48 hrs drying time either in the airing cupboard or on a radiator....if that don't work, bin it

I'm pretty new to all this myself, so sorry..but why would you need to go for a couple of days without it if you wash it? I wash my kanger T3 & eVod out pretty much every day or whenever I fancy a different flavour juice. Just give it a good rinse out in the sink, dry it out best I can with some kitchen roll and I'm back in business. The amount of tap water vapour we inhale in the bath or shower, I'm not going to worry about a tiny amount left in my clearomizers...or am I missing something here?

Sounds like a plan. I'm also seeing the need to have spares. And spares for spares.
What my inquisitive nature wanted to know was what is actually happening in there to make it go brown?
I've also noticed that liquid - some of which is H2O I presume, builds up in the drip tip. When you remove the tip to refill it gets into the tank. What effect does water in the juice have. Is that part of the problem?

well I'm no expert but if you havent cleaned it out in 4 weeks & you leave some of the previous juice in there each time you re-fill, over time, exposure to light, oxygen etc could cause nicotine-oxidation which I'm pretty sure I heard can make the juice go brown.

I would think this is correct and what's happening. Juices naturally darken over time with exposure to light, shouldn't affect the taste but if you have a liquid that's a yellowish or amber colour and leave it in a tank for a while it will turn brown, same in bottles. IF you are using the same flavour everytime then you don't have to wash them often, if you switch juices then the previous one can often discolour and taint new flavours. It's worth using a little bit of washing up liquid when cleaning out Clearos the degreaser seems to help clean wicks. Make sure you wash all the bubbles out first

The juice gets caremalised on the hot coil. This is what eventually gunks up the coil to stop it working effectively. This caramel is brown and that is where the brown colour comes from.

Is that part of the problem? II think that's just condensation and can't see it being enough to affect the juice.

Last night I washed out my first clearo after 6 days use as I noticed the top of the wicks looked dark brown and gunky - the wicks have come up lovely and white - and it's on the radiator as I write. I watched a video yesterday about dry burning to get rid of gunk off the coil. Do I need to do that? Or do I just refill and go.

I always refilled and go, never had much luck dry burning clearos. What goes wrong? You can burn the wicks if they are not completly dry which then gives you a constant burnt flavour. If you over do it you could pop the coil. When i soak mine in voddy they dont need a dry burn but some peeps have had problems with it messing with plastic tanks and the wicks. I have not found this with mine. Marks uses the pure alcohol from chemist which seems to work well. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2
