Dry burning is the best way to clean a coil, just take it easy. Brown juice = mucky coil = a dirty vaper.

I always refilled and go, never had much luck dry burning clearos. So just wash and go or do you wait for the wicks to dry after? Gonna give this a go. Not enjoying my Vaping and my new tank hasn't arrived today. Worth the risk!!

I generally wash and go but try to shake as much eater out as I can. First few drags are damp but once it starts wicking it pulls the juice through fine.

Post deleted cos kibbster answered my question before I'd even asked it
Are you a Psycho psychic?
Gonna fill it a little now and try. If the coil is still mucky I'll soon find out!!

UPDATE: Think the coil must have been too gunky. It's better than it was but the flavour is still missing and the juice is going a little brown. May have another go later and leave it overnight in the hotpress before trying a dry burn in the morning. Reckon doing this once a week would stop things getting to that point.
Another lesson learned!!

It's a case of clean often or clean ten times more harder because you didn't clean often

Yeah I had a few clearos that are old and gunked to hell and back. Even with cleaning and soaking for 48 hours as well as dry burns they were knackered. I did save a couple of them though.

It's a good idea to rotate your clearomisers, wash out, leave to dry for a few days in a warm place(Not hot as on a radiator)do this every 10 (ish) fills or so.

It's a case of clean often or clean ten times more harder because you didn't clean often Rofl aside, that is good advice. I give whichever RDA I'm using a quick dry burn every other day. The current wick/coil has been in there over a month and still working very well.

I used to wash them out/dry burn them and used vodka on some but never seemed to get much better for more than a day or so before they tasted s*** again, but i find the ce4 I now use cheap enough to bin after 2-3 weeks use

I never used to clean out my cartos or clearos and having recently rebuilt a few, the crap that built up on the coil is amazing. The wire looks like a piece of blackened crud.
If I could turn the clock to when I started I wish I'd kept them clean on a much more regular schedule (as advised), because all of my stuff looked dark brown and tasted bad in hindsight.

Some of the cheap CE4s had the 'tin plate' center post and gave a bad taste very quickly. They often had a one piece silicone 'nipple seal' between the coil housing and the drip tip seal that nipped the wick causing it to run dry. To check, look from the side to see if the silicone cap protrudes over the wick slot or stops just above The better ones had a metal insert in the seal. To check, unscrew the drip tip, and look down the hole. If you see a small metal tube with a hole in it you're on a winner.
Caveat - there are combinations depending on what the manus had in stock.
