I think the time is coming close when we should take to the streets and protest. We need to be visible and to get the facts out there and get some publicity. If we dont and legislation becomes a certainty, we wont be able to do a thing about it. I think at the moment, we are almost seen as cranks lol. 15 - 20 years ago I would have agreed with you, but the media have done a good job of turning "Protest" into a dirty word. Many of the general public now just see protestors as soap dodgers and tend to feel animosity rather than empathy towards any protestors no matter how just the cause. Occupy nearly swung it back around again, but even then most people got fed up with them in the end due to media pressure/brainwashing. Not saying it won't come to it, but it seems the MP/MEP's route is having some positive effects. Protests become faceless, where as personal correspondence is, well personal. IMO If there is one way to sway public opinion against you it's to have a protest these days. At the moment I am taking my lead from the likes of ECITA & ECCA, but if it comes to it then I will attend any protests organised, even if I think that could be the final nail in the coffin.

I dont know mate, most of the MP/MEPs just sound like they are paying lip service, it`s all a bit flowery. When it comes down to it it will be about tax revenue and pharmaceutable companies profits, and toeing the party line , if we arent seen as real people.

Again I agree many are towing the party line and using circulars by way of reply, but that's why we need to keep up the pressure and providing them with all the new data surfacing Robby.
That way they can never claim that they wasn't aware of the facts.
Name me one protest in the last 10 years or so that has achieved anything or been shed in a good light by the media?

I dont think it will matter whether about whether they were or weren`t aware of the facts, if it is a EU directive, they wont have any choice. If the government had the Danish Governments approach, ie, "mind your own bloody business" then it would be great, but I cant see the UK Government going that way, I think they will just let it through on a nod and a wink. I totally understand what you are saying about protests but we need to be flesh and bones to people, a two pronged approach would be better in my opinion. As you may know, I live in Northern Ireland. I am sure you have seen the protests about the Flying the Flag thing. Yess, it has had bad publicity etc, but it has made a big difference to the politicians. They are actually listening to people and adjusting their policies. For the past 10 years they have been sitting on their fat arses looking after their salaries. But there are real signs now that they need to listen to people if they are to hang on to their votes.
