.........I have come to the conclusion that whoever designs these potential death traps was born with a sadistic streak..........not content with inventing something that, at any given opportunity, will trip you up with it's long trailing cable, it will, additionally, at any given moment, decide that it's plastic hose doesn't like being attached to the cylinder end of the contraption & disconnect itself without prior warning, causing the wretched machine to cease sucking & bring the whole operation to a grinding halt. I remember the awful upright vacuum cleaner my mum had when I was a mere slip of a lad & it was built like a tank. Once fired up, you needed earplugs to operate the thing & woe betide anyone who happened to be loitering in it's path as it passed along it's merry way....I'm sure the A & E in those days, was littered with bruised & battered victims of this early weapon of mass destruction, but it outlived it's owner on numerous occasions. Nowadays, however, you'll be lucky to nurture one for not much longer than it takes to conceive, nest & finally lay a human egg. I have no problem with the actual mechanics of them........it's the rest of the swine contraption. The plastic handle that you are supposedly able to carry the thing around with, with relative ease & comfort, has now broke so to transport it, you now have to pick it up like a young puppy & lug it about in your arms. There are 5 different types, designs & makes of said appliances in this abode & every one of them is currently suffering from a potentially life threatening ailment. So, get it sorted OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........I have now decided to put my housewifery tasks on hold, while I get the super glue out & tackle this infernal problem once & for all...........................whilst supping on a nice mug of freshly ground coffee & vaping on a sample of home made jollop........Much better idea in my opinion..........Rant over...........

Sit back and glare, threaten and swear at it, (doesn't work, it just sits there and ignores you, but defo makes you feel less like throwing it out the window!!! Lol, works for me, ........just before I put it to bed for it to think on it's attitude!!)

One of my hoovers is impossible to empty without covering yourself in dust and loosing bits of the dust chamber into the bin, necessitating the rather horrid job of digging around in the bin to find it! Luckily we have a spare, I use the latter one until it's full then hide it in the cupboard! I wait until Mr Karma has been annoying me then ask him to empty it as I can't unscrew it due to the arthritis in my wrists

So, further to my moaning about the dangers of the household hoover, my housemate, in her wisdom, decided to update said appliance & the offending article arrived yesterday. As is my want ( & duty, might I add ), I set forth with much gusto this morning, looking forward to a trouble & accident free outing around the abode with the new 'shiny' dust buster...........Well...what can I say..........absolute load of b*ll**** would fit the bill nicely I reckon. OK, it's got loads of buttons, lights & bits hanging off, or attached to it & it also boasts a rather loud colour scheme......but to me, the good points come to a painful halt at that juncture. Apart from being the weight of a small horse & sounding, on firing up, not dissimilar to a formula 1 racing car, the stupid thing seems to have missed the point of it's actual role in life entirely, that being, it's duty to seek out, suck up & consume, any dirt, dust or other offending matter in it's wide & noisy path. Unfortunately, someone, somewhere, obviously overlooked informing the swine machine those facts, before boxing & shipping it off to any unsuspecting customer....namely, me!!!!!!!!....Needless to say, it is now sitting silently in it's appointed corner of the downstairs cloakroom ( bog to the non posh persons ) & will not see the light of day again, if I have anything to do with it. I even, unwisely, forked out half towards the useless thing before clamping eyes on it. For your delight & pleasure, I attach a link to the pathetic excuse for a household appliance, in order that you may avoid it like the plague, should you have a lapse in common sense & dip into your pocket too hastily....As a footnote, I am writing this at this particular moment because I decided to reinstate the appliance that this thread originally started with & in doing so, tripped over the lead & banged my little toe against an open door frame & consequently am now nursing a bruised & battered foot digit.............swine appliance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4066514.htm

Trigger:- And that's what I've done. Maintained it for 20 years. This old brooms had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time. Sid:- How the hell can it be the same bloody broom then? Trigger:- Theres the picture. What more proof do you need?

Ditto, got 2 and they have never let me down. Ditto for the Dyson! Great bit of design. My first one lasted 14 years. My second is a Dyson Mini Animal and it's brilliant. I've had it about 3 years now with no hassle from it. I've never even changed a filter, though I probably should. It's a cylinder vac, so it's very easy to use and lightweight when you need to pick it up. It gets every bit of cat fur off the carpets and takes seconds to empty. Do it. Go on. You know you want to! Hmm, I've had mixed success with the Dyson brand. Our first was one of the original DC02s, and although it lasted a fair while it was quite cumbersome. We now have one of the mini ones, and although it works really well when I've emptied, washed and dried all the filters (3 in all!) it quickly clogs up and then is a pale imitation of its former self. I must admit that 1900 watts, Dual Cyclonic Technology with a 4 stage filtration system sounds like it should do the business though!

Andy Apparently, or so I've been politely informed, the problem lies with my good self & a built in hatred of hoovers themselves.......silly me.....

Also, I happened to comment on the fact that the lounge was too cluttered to accommodate the new acquisition................bad move..............guess who has spent the whole morning re-arranging the furniture in said room, to allow the 'beast' to circumnavigate the area more freely.......... *Note to self:...............keep your gob shut in future...............
