Well after a good start my relationship with my terminator c has been all down hill, as explained in my other thread the first build was ok but now it's just doing my nut in! I can not work out what's wrong, Burning coil taste, it obviously wicking well as its gurgling, a lot, but I just can't get rid of that horrible burning coil taste, I've boiled the whole thing ( minus o rings obv) tried .16 kanthal .20 kanthal .16 nichrome and .15 nichrome. I've had 3mm wick, 2mm + 1mm wick. 2mm wick + 2mm buffer, at the moment I have 4mm (2x2 mm) Jammed in those channels with another 2mm in the cup (so 6mm in the cup) and yet it's still tastes awful and gurgles like, well, a very gurgley thing from gurgle town! Occasionally I get a really good flavour maybe for one or two draws then back to bollocks. I've flamed the ceramic as well. I'm getting great vapour but the burning taste is just awful, I can get rid of it by opening the juice control about three turns but then obviously it floods and vapour drops right off. And another thing! The juice doesn't want to go in?!? I fill in the top tank with the control firmly shut yet fifty percent of the juice wants to stay in the top tank leaving loads of big old bubbles in the bottom tank. I've tried 50/50 and 30/70 pg vg juice and both do the same. It's like all possible problems at all possible times!!!! The big one though the really big one is the awful burning coil taste even though there's clouds of vapour, from 6.5 watts through to 12. Thank you for staying with me! Coils have been between 2ohms and 4.5. And everything in between. The beggars got me baffled! Help. Chris.
Oh and I've used .30 sterling silver no res and .20 silver no res.

I have 4 nautilus on the go and all the coils are between 1.4 and 1.8 I vape at 9 watts and do not have a problem try getting a lower ohms

Burnt taste is juice not getting to the wick. I only do a half to one turn to get it flowing

You probably need to clear the flood. Close the juice control and see if you can blow any excess out. A syringe up the pipe can draw any out as well. Then let the control open gradually

Are you having the coils too tight as that can strangle the wick and however well the Termy wicks the liquid up to the coil, if it is strangled the juice cannot get to the wick where the coils are.

I'd be inclined to strip it all back down and start again myself Toon . . . with the amount of wick you have in there, there's not enough juice flow to the coil. I use the most basic of coil set up, 2mm wick with a 2mm buffer ( sometimes ). Though I have the most success using just a single thickness of 2mm Ekowool.
I keep my coil building as simple as possible.

i think 2 x 2mm wicks in the channel could be restricting the flow of juice , also how do you trap the no res wire , if you trap it under the nut which goes round the ceramic holder that will cause it to flood

4mm of wick in the channels is too much, it will affect performance, you need 3mm. If the coil is wrapped too tight then you will have burning no matter how well it is wicking. Too loose a coil will lead to hot spots and a metalic taste. The coil needs to be wrapped so that is snug on the wick but not strangling it and restricting it's ability to allow the juice to flow. Gurgling can be caused by a few things 1, not enough wick in the channels which allows too much juice to flood in 2, too tight a draw which causes a vacuum that sucks juice inside like a straw 3,trapping that negative wire under the locking ring, this creates a gap in the base

Thanks everyone, I've got the negative zig zag style on the wick so not trapped under the ring. It's settled a bit this morning but still not great. I've ran out of no res again though! Got some more on order from eBay 3.50 for a metre of pure silver .20 delivered, they're really fast too, is that a good price? In the mean time would silver plate copper be any good? I've also got some braided wick coming from ecig wizard. When you get that good hit its really really good though so I'm gonna persevere. I reckon the prob is gonna be the coil as I've tried about every wick combo, perhaps it is too tight. I'll have to wait till about Tuesday for supplies. Bums! How do I get rid off the huge bubbles in the tank though!?!? There's loads of juice in the tank above. Cheers super people! Chris.

Well after all that the bloody ss vamo had reset itself to mode 1 as in the thread the other day! Tastes great now! I knew I wasn't a million miles out on the set up! It's stopped gurgling as well though I'm sure that's just coincidence. Still not as good as it could be but at least I know I'm not a complete div now. Was getting rather confused as I've never had any trouble coiling silica before. Still got air bubbles in the tank though. Chris.
