Hi all, in a moment today whilst at a local shop,I have bought a 'vivi tank' rebuildable, haven't seen one before, and for a tenner seemed like a good excuse to get into rebuildables, without too much worry of breaking it. With a coil installed and a couple of ready made spare coils to boot, happy I was! So, been using it for a few hours now, and I have to say, the vape is really scratchy and harsh, not much flavour, and tastes burnt at anything over 5 watts. So, now I don't know where to start, I saw a brief review of a similar device, saying that the wicking is awful, resulting in a poor vape but I have no experience making coils/wicks (this was to be my first go at rebuilding anything) and no materials to make any! Where do I start? Anywhere that does a good beginners kit, I know I need wick and wire - along with a multimeter, anything else, and which ones? It is one of these - linky - not the place I got it from but gives a good idea of what it is! Thanks in advance!

I can't help you with rebuilding I'm afraid, but it says it comes with different resistance heads. Why not try a different one?

Probably badly made coil... Buy some coil wire and wick and use a thin sewing needle and make your own coil.. You can get some different sizes from here at reasonable prices: www.ltecigs.larsentilbrook.co.uk/index.php?route=common/homeLook under DIY section. 0.16 and 0.2 mm wire and 2 and 3 mm wick is where I would start.

Would second what Karma says, if the head that's on it is LR 5W may be to high, take your watts right down & work your way up. If you want to get into rebuilding Dee has a sticky in the classies thread for wire, I would recommend the .16 for this tank purely because of the space you'll be working in. You can get your wick from here allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/9354/wick-wire-ss-mesh-sources cig-eliquid do a good deal just to get you going & let you decide if rebuilding is for you without spending to much money.

I don't care what it says..There are no heads..It's a VIVI -R tank if that is what he has.. I think the link says it comes with 3 coils but anyway if you are convinced that it has heads, fine..

Hi all, sorry bout the confusion, was away from my computer for a little bit! It comes with 2 more premade coil and wicks, the one that is on is showing as 2.2 ohm, and looks pretty shoddy as well, if that helps shed some light on it? I will invest in some rebuildable supplies ASAP and try to get started, expect many, many idiotic questions! ...well, once they get delivered anyhow lol Thanks guys n gals

Unfortunately, it's not a very good rebuildable Hesta. You will struggle to get the wick to actually wick..
When you make your coil, make it off-center and as close to one hole as possible instead of it being bang in the middle. You may have better results that way..

Thanks macca, I knew it wasn't going to be a good one at that price, more of a 'practice' one if you know what I mean - didn't want to blow decent cash on something I might not enjoy. I will give making a wick/coil a go, and see if there is any improvement, if not I will probably just hold off on rebuilables for now, just heard people saying that other systems aren't as good as a rebuildable, so thought I would give it a shot! Nothing ventured nothing gained etc. Or do you think I'm best just putting this on the back burner for now (happy enough with cartos, tanks and clearos to be going on with)

Probably not the easiest re-buildable to begin your journey. I would have gone for a Vivi-Nova personally. You get 3 different ohm heads with it & when it came to you attempting a re-build it would have been less fiddly in my opinion. Plus, the spare heads are normally well wicked & coiled. I would say the wicks you have are not well coiled ( as macca said )......But still, onwards & upwards. Get some wire & wick & have a play...You've nothing to lose & it'll be a good learning curve.

^he he, already have a couple of novas, never crossed my mind to rewick them though, just put new heads on! Does rewicking/recoiling them make much difference, as I said I have new heads and usually just chuck em away once they're dead!
