Boots VG Hostage Situation

Is there a limit on how much VG you can buy from Boots in one go?

I asked my OH who is out shopping to get me 2x200ml of VG and when she looked there was none on display so she asked the counter and the staff said "Can i ask why do you need so much"

My OH replied "My partner wants it to make e-liquid" so the member of staff had to call someone higher up to get approval if it's ok, my OH told me it took them about 5mins after chatting with each other that the staff member finally came back and said "On this occasion you can have this amount"

Do you get this type of problem?

Personally I use a small independent Chemist! I find they're not as anal as Boots! I can't stand buying any medication in Boots and being cross questioned by a 12 year old as to what I'm going to do with it

When buying syringes, measuring cups, VG etc I say that I make my own cosmetics

BTW, I read somewhere that the reason they're iffy about selling VG in large quantities is that it can be used in bomb making!

or perhaps bath bombs

i told them i was making bubbles for the kids
200mls to 5 litres of water and washing up liquid. i bought 3 at a go then went in a couple of days later but they only had one on the shelf so bagged that.

best blag it if buying more than one or two!

its only boots who sell it in our town. we have 4 different chemists and a couple of health shops but can only get it from boots !

I have heard of a few people having the same problem, i've been asked before and just said it was used for cough medicine in case they frowned on ecig use. I just buy it online now so no questions asked.
