The electronics in the Vamo has proved to be robust and reliable, there are many thousands of them out there. If there was a short in your atty the Vamo would have shut down because it would have been under 1.2 ohms. Maybe you had a leak through the top connector and that was causing a low resistance path inside the Vamo.

Thats the thing I have had shorts where by the ohms dropped from 1.9 ohm to <1.1ohm with a Lo ohm and no rattlesnake, when you say leak do you mean electrical leak or juice leak as my 510 area has always been dry

I have had times where I had been holding onto my Vamo too long and the battery has got warm but always cooled down nicely when I put the Vamo down

Yeah sorry forgot to put that, I have always been on NO2 since I have had my Vamo as I didn't like the variable output of NO1

Well I had my Vamo on my desk as I was writing a reply to VaporBreak and thought I best make sure it still had the fault (and I love using it). Low and behold it's now developed the '02' error. Grrrrrr. So it wouldn't work at all. So I gave them details of the new error a few days ago and they asked me to video that. Finally got around to making a video for them today and the error has vanished. It's still getting hot but at least it works again. Now I have nothing to video again. They must think I'm nuts. Will keep the thread updated

No I don't think it's the positive top connection, if that was getting hot enough to heat the tube then You would also be getting it hot enough to melt the board inside. I think it the actual body is not earthing correctly between the two halves. Try bending the whole thing in the middle, just flex it so that the halves rub at the internal press fitting. It my rub through any surface oxidisation that's causing the resistance. I see similar issues on classic bike electrics. Thank you Mark! I found this thread because I was having the same issue with my SS version. Heat at the top of the battery, short battery life, poor hits, and no "rattlesnake" sound like it used to. I was also getting the dreaded "02" error and shutdowns. So I did what you suggested. It rocked a tiny bit one way, so I turned it over and did it again. It moved quite bit more and made a metal against metal sort of "pop". I fired it up and it's vaping like new. No heat, no errors, the rattlesnake sound is back, and it vapes like crazy. I have seen complaints where the unit would error out unless the bottom section was removed and used with the shorter battery. Sounds like the same type of issue, but at the screw connection. So it looks to me like there is some drawback to this type of design, perhaps mainly with the SS version. Brass is softer and may prove to maintain better connections at the body joints. Well done!
