I've had at least 3 packages in the last couple of months that were supposedly signed for, and the postie never even bothered ringing the doorbell, just bunged them straight through the letterbox. They also went through a spate of giving us other peoples' post - bills, bank statements, everything. I could have stolen their identity and saddled them with tonnes of debt no problem, which of course led us to worry about our mail. Several irate emails later, and the RM said 'sorry', then did it again. And again. And again. The RM sucks > I wouldn't be surprised to see more vendors moving to other couriers in future.

One of the problems is that unless you go fully tracked, compensation is zero for business's.
We've had a spate of smashed bottles recently that we have to right-off and refund or re-send.
The cost has got to be absorbed somewhere - but RM seem to get away with it, time after time.
Why do people hold RM in such high regard? In any other business they would be held accountable, but they seem untouchable.

Just as an aside....if nobody receives their orders next week, it's because I can't keep my mouth shut ???

I think most people would appreciate an option, be it couriers, 1st or 2nd postage RM...at the correct price, rather than be saddled with an average inflated charge for small items.
RM is to blame mostly for sure, but if I'm ordering say a 10ml juice, and the postage is a fiver, I'm not going to bother. whereas, if i had the option of a fairer postage rate, i'd order.
ultimately, if vendors don't get cute on their postage charges, it's going to affect their business. Same as the ebay sellers. Who do seem to be finding ways to combat this.

That's were the website software can be a bit limiting Buck, but we are working on that (Ebay is a lot easier to sell on than a business site).

I do feel for the vendors though. RM want shooting with shite tbh. proper disgrace. i hope some courier company comes up with a pricing structure that takes all the small post business. I'd be amazed if one of them doesn't do it. They'd make a fortune as everyone would use them rather than RM.
Edit..lol Jason, yes. sorry mate wasn't ignoring ya...yeah, the software thing can't be easy. I do feel for you guys, really hope that a solution can be found to the mess that RM have created.

I mostly use RMs online postal services now. Prepay into your account, print your labels with post mark included and off to the nearest post box.
Some items still need to be weighed but I mostly send large letter stuff.

I am really glad I have a RM business account. At the moment everything gets charged at the small packet rate, no doubt RM will change that in the not too distant future. There is a fuel surcharge though.
I do feel sorry for the businesses who don't meet the requirements for an account that have to pay for medium packets. Its terrible that RM have put their prices up so much for packets over 800mm. Someone has to pay and its either the business, the customer or both.
Jason do you have an OBA account?

Getting back to Cloud nine its a glitch in the system, I emailed them about an order of 2x5mtrs of wick and 2x5mtrs of kanthal that was showing £4.95 postage and received a reply from Lisa in under ten mins explaining the trouble they've been having implementing the recent changes into the automated shipping calculation, she also told me that she had gone in and manually corrected the shipping for that particular combination of orders to the lowest charge (£2.95 signed for) I tried again and that was indeed the case. Try an email, as Lisa has been "tearing her hair out" trying to hunt down all the postal anomalies in the automated system as a result of RMs almost monthly price hikes. I also received a free chocolate eclair in my parcel (which I've now eaten ) they are always super fast to respond to queries, I've nothing but praise for them. Chris.

I really feel for the vendors here, RM are an absolute rip off and I've had 3 parcels not turn up in the last month alone. I feel crap having to get replacements sent out as most of the places I order from are small businesses, but at the same time I've paid for my stuff. I always assumed the seller would claim it back from RM if they had proof of postage?
Would it be an option to send smaller orders through RM and larger ones via courier? I totally agree that RM are going to be losing out to other mail carriers if they carry on ripping people off.
With regards to Jason's p&p charges I feel they are very reasonable but if I was ordering a larger package of stuff I would be ok with paying a bit more for it :-)
