I emailed them before re buying a drip tip and was told the postal price was across the board. So, I'm also out.

I've kind of been tip-toeing around this whole thread. Cloud9 have always been a favourite of mine and I will continue to shop there. However, once or twice I have resisted ordering from a vendor (not specifically cloud9) as I know the item I'm ordering will comfortably fit in the 90p size envelope.
I sell stuff "by post" to people, and I am afraid to say that in the event of an object fitting in the basic large letter I cannot bring myself to ask for more than the actual cost of the postage. Sometimes it makes me mad that I have to walk/drive to the P.O. and effectively take 20 minutes out without making a penny on something (or even losing 90p).
I guess vendors should do what they feel best. Speaking completely frankly, there ARE vendors I don't use because of this.

From what I've read from many post about Cloud9 they have always been very helpful people to deal with, but the gear they stock are is the cheapest around, nor is their postage charges, but for the service they give perhaps to some people think it's worth that extra cost. Unfortunately for me, I have the shiny thing habit and I can't stop buying, and so with limited funds I will always look for the vendors with the cheapest price, and touch wood I have so far had no issues with any

I always shop with C9, cracking goods, cracking service, don't really look at the p+p, just look at all the shinys

It's a balancing act with P&P from a vendors point of view.
Some customers lose out and some gain, but a lot of website software doesn't allow the intricacies that we would like to manipulate the postage charges.
I can only speak for us, but the weekly subsidy is large and not something that can be sustained in the long term.
It's also a bit of a psychological one isn't it? If we added X% to the prices, but then did free postage - the customer would still be paying the postage.

I see it as, if the goods are cheaper than else where, then buy enough to make p+p reasonable,ie free, nobody would expect you to pay a fiver on an item costing a couple of quid.

Since selling a few items last month on the Classified Board I'm now appreciating why vendors need to have these postal charges! I put £1 postage on quite a few items that I was sure would be fine as a large letter. Due to less than 1mm these items cost me nearly £3 to post The other thing I bear in mind when internet shopping is the cost of petrol/public transport, parking etc, if I wanted to go to B+M shops. The nerarest B+M shop for vaping supplies for me is over 50 miles away in the city!

I have used cloud9. Great service.
But I absolutely can not ever bring myself to pay more for postage than I'm doing for the item. It's just something that bugs the crap out of me.
If its an expensive item I don't mind paying the extra but I wouldn't buy a £3 item and pay £5 postage.

i posted off two parcels the other day at the same time. Both where in A6 padded jiffy's.
They both contained one carto tank , in an old efest 18350 box. In one envelope was just the tank , in the other was the tank and 2 bottle of juice.
I gave the parcel with just the tank to the clerk first and it didn't fit through the "letter" slot so had to be sent first class recorded small parcel @ £4.10.
Next was the heavier A6 envelope with the tank and 2 bottles of juice ( 10ml and 20ml) weighed 4 times more than the previous jiffy, but because that extra weight was enough to allow it to drop under its own weight through the "letter" slot, it only cost me £2.10 first class recorded.
Go Figure !!

Go Figure !! Indeed, they are not even allowed to give the package a light tap to get it through the slot! One package I sent didn't go through the slot the first time, she tried it gain and it did! Before I could say anything she tried it a 3rd time and it stuck again, so I had to pay the extra

Since selling a few items last month on the Classified Board I'm now appreciating why vendors need to have these postal charges! Yes, and no, I guess. I feel kind of bad when someone sends me something and I know they've lost out big time. it also makes me a bit cross to pay £3 for something the size of say a 10ml juice bottle and there's a 90p stamp on it. I sold some stuff on ebay a while back. The worst deal was selling a £79 (new) item and getting £16.50 for it with a stated £8.95 postage. I got charged the best part of £15 for posting it. Last year, the same item was £8.95. Basically, I made a tenner. Never doing that again. I'll give it to a charity shop and tell them to put a £15 price on it. I bought a luxury leather pouch (£20?) from Heart Foundation the other day, it looked good for vaping devices. She said it was £2. I told here to "rethink" and charge MORE! So she asked for £3. I gave her £3 and put £2 in the "box".

Same here Jerri . . . and that applies to any Vendor with a similar postage pricing structure, as it isn't just Cloud9 who operate with similar charges.

There are ways round this. I hope vendors look into it, not just cloud9, there are a few others who just stick top whack charges for small items, I'd rather go without to be honest. No doubt royal mail have made it awkward, but like i say there are ways to get the best out of the system, as a few ebay sellers are posting on this thread...up to 1kg 2nd class @ £2.60 seems to be the cheapest option from what I've read...which is a still a long way cheaoper than some of the postage options now being offered by a few vendors. www.hotukdeals.com/deals/don-t-caught-out-new-royal-mail-small-parcel-measurements-royal-mail-small-parcel-1525610

That's a good option Buck, but try explaining to customers who want their goods yesterday, why they are now taking 2-3 days longer than normal. All these threads and discussions are good to see, but at the root of it all are Royal Mail, with their poor service and constant price increases. It's a pity they can't be Twitter bombed I asked our account manager this week about all the packages that have disappeared into thin air (signed for) and she said that we would be better going to a fully tracked service so that they can pinpoint any problems and compensate us - the cost - £4.40 per parcel.
