Last night painting my nails I looked at one of my boring black batteries and wondered if it could be painted? Thinking nail varnish is probably a bad idea ??? but what could I paint them with? Could I sticky back plastic them? they just look so boring and black

I sticky back plastic'd my lavatube and it looked fine. You can buy some cut to fit designs for some mods, but if you are a bit artistic you can easily make your own. I don't think nail varnish would be a problem, good idea actually. We'd like to see them when they are done. If I knew someone very good with painting, I've love a dragon painted on a mod for me.

Oh Jen that is lovely! I have a rainbow of nail varnish and I suppose the battery doesn't get warm. I might have a go at Decopatching one though, that looks wonderful

Aw, thank you Decopatch is dead easy, you just cut or tear the paper (I cut with straight edges), paint the surface with the varnish, then place the paper and brush over more varnish, leave to dry, done! There's a huge range of papers to choose from too, there's bound to be something to suit your tastes The Innokin is holding up really well, too, not even a scratch on it.

Yep, Vinyl wrap, a hair dryer and a scalpel, there are loads of designs you can get.

collie2011, Jezarel was asking a similar question the other day. If you're as worried as I'd be that it didn't turn out as intended, you could practise on a marker pen, old bottle, etc If you're good at nails though, you shouldn't have a problem I did one of my syringes yesterday with mrs. freds clear nail varnish - couldn't see any mistakes in it - clear nail varnish - what's that about then - wouldn't it just be easier not to bother?

If you want colour on your PVs but still want the chrome/SS/whatever of the unit to show through, use Stained Glass Window Paint.
I used to do embossed copper pictures and this is the paint I used on these. I got loads of vivid colour but I could still see the shine of the copper through the paint.
You will get it in any arts & crafts shop.

I have to say I love the feel and texture of the finished thing, there's just something about it! And a £1 a sheet, you've got plenty of back up
