I recently bought a litre of pharma grade PG from am ebay seller. I have not used it yet. The chemical formula given is C3H8O2. The thing that worries me is that it gives FIRST AID INFORMATION on the label. It says that if this substance is inhaled, the patient is to be moved out into the fresh air, and the nose and mouth washed out with water. It also says to avoid skin contact. I am worried about this. Has anyone else seen similar warnings on bottles of PG?

Yep.
My bottle say the same, but not the bit about rinsing.
I'm not worried.

Hi Guys, and it is reassuring to know that others have the same warnings on their PG bottles. We know from published research that it is OK to inhale PG vapour. But in this age of Health and Safety, it is counterproductive to issue warnings about dangers that do not exist. It brings the whole idea of warning lablels into disrepute, a bit like the boy who cried "wolf". I was not looking forward to my wife dragging me outside to wash my nose and mouth out every time I vape.

Thinking about it, it does not mention inhalation of PG vapour, but inhalation of PG.
Inhalation of water vapour - we all do that in the shower. Inhalation of water - we drown.

We live in safety conscious times . . . plus many folk seem to lack even a rudimentary common sense, so I guess more and more Manufacturer's will be putting a warning of one sort or another on their products, to cover themselves. I have also edited your thread title neptune, to one that's a little less alarmist.

I have copied this from the safey sheet after I bought my Pg from the same source..... Prolonged contact with propylene glycol is essentially non-irritating to the skin. Undiluted propylene glycol is minimally irritating to the eye, and can produce slight transient conjunctivitis (the eye recovers after the exposure is removed). Exposure to mists may cause eye irritation, as well as upper respiratory tract irritation. Inhalation of the propylene glycol vapors appears to present no significant hazard in ordinary applications. However, limited human experience indicates that inhalation of propylene glycol mists could be irritating to some individuals. It is therefore recommended that propylene glycol not be used in applications where inhalation exposure or human eye contact with the spray mists of these materials is likely, such as fogs for theatrical productions or antifreeze solutions for emergency eye wash stations. Propylene glycol does not cause sensitization and it shows no evidence of being a carcinogen or of being genotoxic So its perfectly safe to vape

I'm reminded of a picture of a packet of peanuts I saw recently that had the health warning "DANGER - may contain nuts"

In our medicine cabinet we have a bottle of sleeping pills, prescribed for my wife. The safety label says "Caution, may cause drowsiness."

Maybe a vaping myth but it rings true. The US military was looking into potential chemical weapons. Testing everything in sight. When it came to PG they wafted vapour in, round the clock and the lab rats or guinea pigs were unaffected. No matter how hard they tried they couldn't harm them.
