my daughter works in a local factory, and is neither a smoker nor a vaper. If her collegues wish to have a cigarette at tea break, they have to leave the factory, a walk of a quarter of a mile. There is not time for a cup of tea and a smoke, so it`s either/or. Vapers are treated the same. Treating workers like this just breeds resentment.

This whole business of Soubry being kicked upstairs somehow makes me nervous. How apt that she has been moved to defence. At least she has a proven track record that she is in favour of killing people.

Kibster, that was quite some post. You put time and effort into that, not to mention your heart and soul. You have used your gift with words to say what most of us were thinking. I particularly liked the bit about Tobacco Control being out of a job, and their attitude now that it has become a real possibility. There seems to be something about riding a gravy train that lulls the passengers into believing that they have a god-given right to be there, and that the journey will last forever. Sadly for them, history does not bear this out. The times, they are a-changing.

There are additional safety precautions that can be taken when charging batteries. I read somewhere that flame proof bags are available to contain batteries during charge, does anyone know where? Another idea would be to place the battery in a tin can, thus preventing it from setting fire to worktops etc. Ideally, you need a can with a push on lid, with vent holes punched in it to allow gasses to escape. During sudden gas venting, a battery can act like a small rocket for a few seconds. So place something heavy on top of the tin lid. Hopefully this will contain any battery explosion, and render it a non event.

I am retired, and only use the train about once a month. I use the train to transport me and my bicycle to different areas, so I can bike on unfamiliar roads for a change. The train company is East midland trains. Last time I asked a staff member, vaping was allowed, and that was about six months ago. I was challenged once by a fellow passenger and accused of smoking. I explained that I was vaping, not smoking, and offered to stop if it bothered him. Although he was a bit grumpy, he said I could carry on as far as he was concerned, so I did. E cig was am Ego with Ce4.

That is interesting, and presumably legal. After all there have been cases of schoolkids being given NRT without their parents consent, and ending up in hospital with a nic overdose. There is a danger that the ANTZ will twist this into anti e cig propaganda, however.

During a war, one sometimes has to choose allies that one would not choose in peacetime. Did we not choose Russia as an ally in World War Two? The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I will not hestitate to vote UKIP.

I have done it and ask you please to do the same. Together we can stop the bitch in her tracks, and really give her something to throw a pissy fit about.

That was a very impressive interview. You spoke clearly and understandably. The journo played his part in an impressive way too. Shame about the oil thing, but I can forgive her that. TBH as a Grandad, I quite fancy her!

OMG talk about you couldn`t make it up. And I always thought it was Americans who couldn`t grasp the concept of irony. Jewel in the crown? More a case of the Emporer `s new Clothes, I would say.

In my opinion, for vaping to replace smoking, it must not only be cheaper than tobacco, it must be cheaper than BLACK MARKET TOBACCO, the tobacco of choice for about 75% of smokers in my area. That already obsoletes cigalikes, and anything with prefilled carts.

gaura. Everything you say is logical. However, when greed comes in the door, logic goes out the window. Sweden has the lowest smoking rate in the civilised world, and the lowest rates of cancer. All down to Snus. Did the European Parliament encourage us to use Snus? Not exactly, they banned it.

Quote from MHRA There is healthy competition between brands, which stimulates innovation and competition, which ultimately benefits the consumer through improved products and lower prices. There is no reason to believe this would be any different if applied to licensed NCPs, such as electronic cigarettes. No reason to believe apart from the fact that each new improvement or iteration would need a new License at a cost of two million pounds.
The MHRA "Deems" that flavoured e cigs are aimed at children. NRT gum and candies have flavours. So can we therefore assume that these are aimed at children too?
I hate that word "Deem" . Every time they Deam, I scream!

It`s a very long time since I worked as an employee, having been self employed for many years before I retired. Employers range from the brilliant to the abysmal. I spent a year as a Union Shop Steward, which believe me is a very difficult job to do, if there is any trouble, you are automatically involved in it. I always found diplomacy to be the best approach. If there are only a few vapers compared to smokers, I would have a word with the immediate supervisor, and get permission to stand close to, and upwind of the smoking shelter. Have umbrellas handy for rainy days. That way you can still chat to your smoking pals without breathing their smoke. Sometimes, a good old British compromise is the answer.

In business, overpricing can make extra profit. But the gain is only a very short term thing, and the price has to be paid further down the line. Once customers discover that the same thing, or better, is available at a much lower price, the jig is up. The nest is well and truly shit. Trust once lost can never be regained. Customers are a fickle lot, and who can blame them?
