Vamo top cap (How to replace guide needed)

I have just ordered two s/s top caps to replace the old ones as the threads are shot. I am looking for a how to guide before they arrive on my doorstep. Any guide would be great but a picture guide would be amazing.

Roscope star man thanks for the above posts. I am sure they will be very useful as and when I do balls it up. The wires connected to the top cap should be simple enough and with working with cables on the railway in the past, this should be a doddle but you know when your going into the unknown it can be quite daunting.

Any tips and tricks in getting the top cap of the vamo, I've been struggling with mole grips for 30 minutes and it hasn't moved at all. Anyone that took their vamo apart, how did you get yours off.

You got that right mate  , I did the same thing as you tried, mole grips. In your case it doesn`t really matter if you damage them getting them off. If you have access to a bench vice it might be easier for you to get a better grip on them. Brute force and ignorance seems the only way

It may be an option to get 2 new ones stamina and see what you can get for the old ones. There is a bit of a market for old vamos with the electronics being used for mods now. The boards are also available now....................for the price of a new Vamo lol

Just be careful mmate, the length of the wire is very short so make sure it doesnt travel too far in your efforts to seperate the top from the body.

Only had £14 pound and a new vamo is like £20, so I would of been £6 short. I do know what the two of you is saying and it does make sense but being skint and needing a fix ASAP. I had to do it this way and by doing it this way this could open my eyes into the modding world.
