Vamo top cap (How to replace guide needed)

Going to take mine apart later today (if i'm lucky), it looks as if the SS top is much harder to remove than the plated. If I get it off I am going to fit a better 510 connection and give it a wrap.

If I have any success i'll post back here.

I think there is a lot less room in a Vamo, I would proceed with a lot of caution, it would be so easy to bugger up the track on one of those circuit boards without even knowing it.

Looking in my ss vamo there's no room to get from the bottom with anything, it's almost sealed off.

You have to get the push fit off from below the display tube, there is also a joint type piece there which must be removed.

well I am off in the workshop now, got zappers to make.. i'll take a butchers at the vamo too, which probably means a vice and a big hammer lol

Tried taking the top off with some grips and it wouldn't budge, put it in the vice and it came out pretty easy though with a wiggle.

Took out the 510 connector and put a new one in, also gave it a new skin while I had it apart.

Just an update.

Today I bought a soldering set (cheapo one) for a fiver plus the solder.
I eventually got the caps off after buying a mini vice for another fiver.

I thought it be straight forward but no the end cap negative screw was bigger in diameter than the hole on the new end cap.
In fact the whole episode was a nightmare because I pulled the wires off from the circuit board on the first end cap pull off and the second one was ok but the end cap hole was smaller than the screw diameter. after trying to solder the wires on, the soldering iron decided to quit. now I have two vamo's in bits and a busted soldering iron.

Total expenditure.

2 new end caps plus postage £13.98
soldering iron + solder £6.98
Mini vice £ 4.98
8 mars bars £2.00

total £27.94

What a fkin waste ok minus the mars, they were just yummy.

Money was borrowed too.

Back to using the gripper with phoenix and a ego 650mah with a ce4.

I'm really really sad
