Ok so i was looking at mixing supplies and what not and was looking on boots site for Glycerin.I was kinda shocked for what it was used for in all honesty. So why do people get sore throats and coughs as this is what its uses are:
Boots Value Health Glycerin B.P (Glycerol) 200ml. For the relief of coughs and soreness of the throat.
As ive never really looked into it it was just something new ive learnt really while searching for mixing supplies.
so when people just use that in their mix,s for juice is it the nic what can give them a sore throat or doesnt it work the same when vaped?

In normal liquid form it coats the walls of your throat including all the little hairs so lubricates and cuts down irritation. When inhaled as a vapour it does not.

Ah ty verey thats claerd that one up but i have also just noted something else what maybe of intrest to people with diabetes it lists: Do not use: If you are allergic to glycerol. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor: If you have diabetes If you are dehydrated or become dehydrated. You can use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

I don't think nicotine causes a sore throat because it anaesthesises the throat. At least that's what my GP told me when I complained about a sore throat shortly after quitting smoking some years ago. Said I had a low grade infection which the nic masked.
It's probably the dehydrating effect of vaping which causes sore throats rather than the VG or flavours, unless, you're unlucky enough to have allergies.

Don't take this as gospel, but I seem to remember that glycerine is a humectant, ie, it attracts moisture to itself - therefore it takes water out of your tissues. Makes me laugh that expensive moisturisers are touted as containing humectants - well, they might plump up your skin because they're expanding themselves in the dry outer layer by pinching moisture from the lower layer of your skin Now then, if glycerine is not a humectant, the above is a total load of bollix - oops scylla

Roachie, going way back to my youth (many years ago;D) & coming from a non affluent Yorkshire family (even the affluent Tykes can have deep pockets & short arms ). Glycerine was used as a remedy for many evils - cheapest cough remedy going & if you spilled any, you rubbed into your hands that where chapped from the cold I've never experienced a sore throat from vaping but as Verey says, when you vape VG it won't act in the same way as swallowing it as a liquid.

Very interesting indeed. So this chronic itching that i have had could be down to being dehydrated? It sort of makes sense as i vape alot more than i drink fluids.I reckon your thread could have cracked my problem Roachie,i just need to drink stacks more water ??? I must admit that PG does really dry my throat very quickly indeed.

Oh this has gone into something i didnt think it would spread tbh lol it was just one of my brain ticks. @scylla very naughty you said a nughty word but very intresting. @chrissie you see i never knew this its just something what i read as i was doing my daily search for bits and bobs. You see i did wonder why it was in the cough medicine department. and also another question relateing to this sort of thing. It was intresting you know cause i was reading a document lee had posted up and also what griz had said bout it being weird people being allergic to PG.About they use it in the hoispital ventilation system to combat MRSA.Now does that mean we are more superior to it or not cause obviosuly vapeing is like smokeing you breath it in and it goes from your lungs and then carried by your blood. So my thinking is that we may could be?and would this give people we vape around the same sort of benifits as they would be passive vapeing? So there for it must be ok to vape in a hospital? sorry ive gone on a lil just find this very intresting. ian yes mate im the same im terrible when vapeing mate i dont drink enuff but lucky i dont have skin problems my scalp gets itchy th but i soon combat that by washing my hair. But now i make it a rule to have water in 2 liter bottles by me sofa on me table lol.

Thats what i dont get,i shower every day and have used many different scalp treatments without joy.Oh well,i will certainly give drinking alot more water a try.It does make sense to me now that if you are dehydrated then your skin will suffer.I drink stacks of tea in the day and vape heavily without water maybe this is whats causing my problems.

Ian, I reckon you are dehydrated Showering won't rehydrate you it will just make you smell nice Tea contains caffeine which is a diurectic. Basically you're peeing out more than you're taking in. You need to drink quite a lot of water. 2L a day, although some of that can be tea.

Doesn't have to be water - any liquid will do - but if'n you pee a lot drink more. This is why beer is good....

Try some of your daughter's juices in the water Ian. Or even, radical thought, some of your vaping flavours Recycled beer is good for the compost heap if you have one
