Tis with a heavy heart I share my tale of woe
A couple of days ago I filled a brand new clearo CE5 for my son, upon attaching it nothing nada, dead as a door nail. So I emptied it and was going to bin it but it got cleaned and ready for use. Tonight just for fun I thought I would try get it to work, figured out only problem was coil, so lets try re-coil it. Pulled it apart no probs but upon trying to recoil this little bugger tis was a nightmare, but not what you're thinking fat fingers couldn't get coil to wind, No problem was I couldn't see the thing, so up I get and turn main light on , bit better but not good enough so I have idea, in coat pocket is one of them little lights that sit on head ( used for night walks , so I can see in woods and pick up the poop... I know shocker ..really I am responsible pet owner) so off I go and get it... still can't see what i'm doing & I get another Bright idea (pun intended) I have in bedroom one of those lights with spring clamp base , it clips on head board and can angle it to read by, So off I goes and get it. So picture this here I am sitting at desk table light on in corner, main light on, light on head & a light clamped to shirt (desk top to thick for it to clamp onto ) electric lead trailing from me like I'm recharging myself. So I have another go, basked in light from all directions still having trouble seeing
I managed to recoil it but it was a struggle, I then remembered seeing a Phil Busardo review (him wearing strange contraption on head) & I have had to concede I am getting old I did Google search and found very similar Alien head gear & have had to confirm my old fart status and order one for recoiling
I wonder if it makes my Bum look Big
I thought I would share such sad tale
here is link to said item ONLY CLICK IF YOU ARE OLD FART

I feel your angst, fiddles . I cannot see the air-holes in my new adjustable air-hole Phoenix. Ergo, adjusting it is a hit-and-miss affair and it takes a good deal of time before I can coax the merest waft out of it. Our bodies are failing, my friend. Dementia, smelling of wee and voting for UKIP cannot be far behind. All will not be well. Things fall apart, the centre cannot hold. We are passing through nature to eternity. The cold grave beckons. Still, mustn't grumble, eh?

I've bookmarked it, but I think I'll try a seriously strong pair of reading glasses first. I've got used to looking like an old fart, but looking like an old fart pretending to be in Star Trek is a bit much.

If I'm at the extreme end of tired I really struggle to focus on things when working which happens a fair bit. My vison has always been very dodgy and I'm only 41 - been dodgy my whole life, had eye surgery when 5 years old. I have the added "bonus" of not having true binocular vision since only one eye works properly due to a medical cock up during the mentioned surgery (I have three siblings, we all had the surgery, we all only have one fully functional eye - they don't do the surgery we had any more on kids). My good eye is mostly fine, it has vision that optometrists find amusing in that it is technically short sighted but an astigmatism corrects the eye almost perfectly. Tother eye has full function apart from it never focuses correctly. On the plus side it makes buying new glasses cheap since I'm only ever paying for one prescription lens not two. Also my prescription has not changed very much in the last 15 years or so. The really bad, even with glasses on no TV in my life has ever looked in full focus, I can't do many of these amusing picture thingies based on optical effects (them 3D pictures for instance, modern 3D TV/Film) since most rely on having two eyes working at the same time. The device in question would probably not work quite right for me and if I ever need to would need a good old fashioned great big magnifying glass or a slightly more advanced version of the device which would allow very fine focus control. So if you think you feel old, I've been squinting to see things for my whole life with nothing much optometry can do for me.

Lucky you look like the real world version of Simates avatar But sorry for going off topic. I use a fly tying lens if I really struggle with coils. I think I need new prescription. Regards Jez

I've bookmarked it, but I think I'll try a seriously strong pair of reading glasses first. That's what I do Giles, picked up a pair of readers in the Pound Shop at a stronger than my prescription strength, works quite well for me.

I always kept one eye shut, you cant be too careful That would give me dilemma, which eye to close ? If I close the right I won't see bugger all even if I use lenticular supplementation. Closing the left would mean risking the eye that works. Hmmm, safety glasses all round.

Yeah but we are all big kids at heart & I know my real life big kids are gonna rip me a new one when they see it, and my motto is if youre gonna do it do it large Funny thing is and probably should have added to original post is my mother wore glasses as did my brother, my 3 boys also wear glasses, Me & the Mrs are glasses free (for the time being ). Had my eyes tested a few months ago & was told I didn't need Glasses .

Well this old fart has been using a set of these for at least the last 15 years if not longer. The batteries and the little side lights went walkabout a decade ago but even as I type f I stretch out my hand behind me, I can lay my hands on this extremely useful bit of kit.
I wrecked my eyes years ago when retouching negatives on a light-table, but thankfully affordable technology has advance in line with my deteriorating eyesight and I would not be without my magnifying head set for fine work.
