Hi everyone,
I am completely new to the forum and have not yet taken the plunge into the world of vaping.....but I am very interested.
I smoke roll-ups at the moment which I pay £9.50/50g which lasts me on average 4 days so I am spending less than £20 per week at the moment.
I'll be honest, cost is the reason that I would consider swapping to vaping at the moment. I know there are the health benifits to consider but I have to say that I love smoking and that's why I have always failed to give up in the past!!
The initial cost doesn't bother me. The Riva 1100 Deluxe seems excellent value for money but I am confused about the long term costs and if I'm honest also not being able to pick up the consumables without ordering online.
So, putting the initial cost aside, how much would my weekly spend be on juice and other consumables? I'm mostly confused with the clearomiser or cartomiser choice, which is the most cost effective and how many I may end up using on a weekly basis?
I've seen that 30ml of juice is £8.96 (Vape Escape) but how long does that last? Is that going to be a weekly spend or a couple of juice bottles a week?
Any advice that might help get me over the line and take the plunge would be appreciated.
Thanks

Juice can be rather cheap misteliquid sell's 100ml for 14.99 which lasts me around 3-4 weeks but it all depends on how often you are vaping, £9.50 for 50g? That can't be legit... lol.
It's like everything, you can make it as expensive or as cheap as you want, but money isn't the only deciding factor think of your health, i loved smoking as well but now i enjoy vaping even more.

Hello & welcome nfollows1982 It's hard to say how long anything will last you as it will depend how much you vape. But to give you an idea, I was a very heavy smoker (approx 50 a day ), so I'm now a heavy vaper & my running costs are about £10 a week. The main difference between clearomisers/cartomisers etc. is the draw or amount of flavour they give. It's often down to personal taste which type you prefer.

£10 - £15 a week can easily be achieved. With mixing your own liquid and rebuildable atomisers certainly less than £10 a week. How much would you pay for your health?

So moving away from the cost element......how does it compare to the real thing?

So moving away from the cost element......how does it compare to the real thing? Different but better, it's hard to say it's like how it would be changing from drinking only tea to drinking only coffee.

"It's like switching from black & white to colour T.V"

The best way to find out is try one or buy a disposable from a supermarket and see if you think you may like it.

I've tried one before, I honestly couldn't tell you which one, but it was a cig lookalike with pre-filled cartridges. I think I bought it mainly as the end lit up and it looked like the real thing!
I understand that vaping with the proper kit is totally different but it wasn't a great experience and that's why I am apprehensive about taking the plunge again.

nfollows1982 where abouts are you? There may be an e-cig shop near you or another member that would be willing to meet up with you, so you could have a try

Go for it nfollows1982, you could spend £30 and find your new best friend On average, I'd say I get through about 4-5ml a day. I was a 20 a day smoker of menthol. I'm currently vaping away on my strawberry apricot mix which costs me roughly £1/10ml to make. I replace the heads on my Evods roughly once a fortnight, they cost around £2 each. The Evod itself costs around £6, I like to have one per flavour. Vaping isn't smoking, I think it's better. My wheezey smoker's cough disappeared practically overnight, I can breathe nice and deep. I can smell & taste better, and neither my house nor I stink of fags. The sheer enjoyment of doing what looks and feels like smoking but isn't likely to give me cancer and all the other evil diseases beats smoking into a cocked hat, to be honest. And once you get over having the whole range of different flavours, it tastes so much better too! But you do need a decent kit so I coudn't recommend disposables, they're pants

How do you make your own juice? Ooo, that's a loaded question!! In brief, you get some nicotine base, some PG or VG (glycol or glycerin, available from Boots and other stores), and some flavouring and mix it up. Big initial outlay, big long-term savings, customised flavours. In practice it's a little more complicated than that though, before everyone jumps all over me

It never cost me more than 4 euro a week. But the other benefits are also amazing If you start getting into mixing it will be cheaper

I think mixing might be something that I'd look at further down the line!!
What about juice strength? Is there any rule of thumb when it comes to this?
