So I guess it's all down to the individual then? How many puffs you need just comes from how many you feel you need before you feel satisfied? The one thing my wife has asked is about vaping in the house.....what exactly to you exhale? Is there anything harmful in it and what about the smell? I've read that the fruit versions smell of fruit but do the tobacco flavours make the house smell like an ashtray? Welcome to you Nfollows . . . it's a water vapour that's exhaled, so no nasties as with passive smoking. Tobacco flavours are only a representation of a true tabac flavour, they certainly won't make your house pong like real cigs do. I rather like the smell of the flavours I vape, mainly dessert/candy flavours . . . no one I've vaped around has ever objected either, quite the reverse.

Hi nfollows and welcome As a former baccy smoker I can tell you my spend Feb £149 Mar £73 Apr £27 May £33 In Feb and March when I started Vaping I bought a Riva 1100 deluxe kit and another riva battery and a mains charger. Also an ego battery and another usb charger. I have bought rebuildable clearos and some new heads. I also now have enough juice for about 6 months and the heads to vape it all. All included in the above costs. So I'm down to about £10 a week on cost I used to go through about 100g of baccy a week. I started on 18mg juice and its good for me. I probably go through 2ml on average. But.... I don't have to keep scrubbing my fingers I don't smell of smoking My teeth are getting whiter And... My kids think it's great Hope you decide to start Vaping Good Luck

I've read that the fruit versions smell of fruit but do the tobacco flavours make the house smell like an ashtray? This is an interesting read; www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/12776603-latest-studies-confirm-ecigarette-vapor-safety "Some non-smokers have expressed concern about inhaling nicotine should they be exposed to exhaled vapor. It should be particularly comforting to observe that the quantity of nicotine in a puff of captured exhaled vapor too small--even if inhaled directly by a bystander--to have any health effects whatsoever. If a bystander were to lock lips with a user after each inhaled puff and take in the entire quantity of nicotine the user inhales, after 300 puffs the bystander would be exposed to 2.1 mg of nicotine, which is the approximate quantity present in a low-dose nicotine lozenge or piece of gum. At these quantities, nicotine is not a danger to health and does not cause addiction. Furthermore, the nicotine would be delivered much more slowly—at about 1/10 the speed of delivery from gum or lozenges. However, bystanders concerned about inhaling nicotine are unlikely to lock lips with an e-cigarette user, and since no nicotine was detected in the air samples taken in the stainless steel test chamber, it is apparent that the tiny amount of nicotine exhaled by the user is quickly diluted by mixing with the ambient air. As a result, bystanders are not exposed to nicotine at all." As for the smell, I don't vape tobacco flavours..mostly mint/menthol and sometimes Red Bull etc or Fruit flavours. Most of the liquids I vape leave hardly any smell, maybe a slight hint. Red Bull in particular is quite stong smelling though, to quote my brother when he came round one day after I'd first started vaping.. "bloody ell mate, what's going on! it smells like a sweet shop in here"

Yes that sounds about right, I have not smoked in our house for 11 years, but I do vape in the house, I like liquorice flavour juice & my husband says he can smell the vapour from that but as you can imagine that is a nice smell, I alternate that with a tobacco juice & he hasn't mentioned any smell from that so obviously theres no smell, theres nothing harmful either its just vapour (steam) that is inhaled & then exhaled & only you will get the flavour from whichever juice you are vaping

Morning everyone! Back again with another question!
Firstly, I've taken a small step and ordered the single blister pack that Chrissie linked to earlier (thanks!!) and a small bottle of juice so I can get a feel for what this vaping is all about.
To my amazement my wife has jumped on board and is willing to give this a go - so hopefully we will end up with double the savings!!
The last thing that I want to ask (for now anyway) is about the practicality of vaping vs normal smoking.
At the moment we just grab the baccy, filter tips and papers and we are set for the day. So, how does preparing for a days vaping compare to that?
Do you have to juice up in the morning or can you juice up the night before and just grab and run? Can you juice up a couple of carts and use them both during the day etc etc?
It's not so much of an issue for me as I can juice up at work if needs be but I know my wife and if shes having to mess around with things during the day I think it will put her off.
Thank you!!

Hello and welcome!
To answer that direct question: No, vaped tobacco flavoured liquids don't make the house stink of ashtray. Or I have not found one that does. The tobacco taste (and smell) is more like fresh hay, somewhat grassy and sweet.
Best to work with your family about what smells good and what doesn't. I have a strawberry liquid that my partner can smell downstairs when I vape it upstairs - I am glad she likes it =)
But it is all down to the individual. Some of the cinnamon liquids make the house smell a bit like walking past a good bakery around christmas.
Some liquids don't smell at all.
Try it and decide for yourself.
Edit: You can definitely set up in the evening and just grab your stuff in the morning and go, but vaping is not just as hassle free as smoking. Sometimes things go wrong or break and there's nothing you can do about it. So, best to always have a backup ready, so that you can simply sort it out in the evening at home.

I'd get two batteries each so you can have one on charge whilst you're using the other. You can always take a bottle of juice with you to refill as you go, it literally takes about 30 seconds, and yes you can leave juice in your carto/clearo/tank. I think it's the battery charging you'll need to plan. If you have access to a power source during the day, most chargers are USB or wall-mounted with adaptors. If you don't have access, you're either going to need a bigger battery (1300 mah+), or 2+ smaller charged ones, or a portable charger battery.

Hello and I don't notice any of my vapour smelling, but I was out on the front with some of the other parents on our street and I was vaping custard and one of them commented "wow that smells really nice" If I vape Caramel, the Mr can smell it in the house when he comes in from work. But they are nice smells

may be worth having a look at this document, print it out for your employers and you may even find that they will allow you to vape at work, sat at my desk chugging away on vanilla custard right now, there are 3 vapers here and my directors are over the moon as no one sneaks out for a ciggy anymore, www.eccauk.org/images/pdf/employers-and-ecigarettes.pdf though doesn't stop us trawling the web

Topping up a cartomiser or clearomiser takes about the same time as lighting a real cigarette

We've got a couple of gadgets at home that offer power through the USB port so that's no issue and I assume I could plug mine into a USB port on a PC when I'm at work if I need a charge?
I really can't find one reason why vaping isn't a good idea if you get the right equipment!
Although saying that, after browsing through the forum last night, I can see myself getting into customizing and VV etc once I've actually figured out what all that means!

nfollows1982 going back to the smell from the vapour. A friend of mine that hates the slightest wiff of a real cigarette is more than happy for me to even vape in her tiny little car - with the windows shut. She says the most she can smell (even from a tobacco flavoured juice) is a hint of popcorn.

Exactly, just go for it VV = variable voltage = you being able to customise your vape/heat/strength. The same juice in the same kit can taste very different at 3.3V and 4.8V I charge my Spinners off my laptop, easy peasy

I think once I get to ordering the Riva I'd like to go down the rebuildable clearo route? I like the look of the Ego V3.
Is this a good way to go? Seems to be a nice easy approach especially with a pack of 5 heads for under £10.
What ohm rating would I get though? 1.8, 2.4 or 2.8?
