We're off to Greece in about 10 days. I know it's not the done thing to vape on the flight, but does anyone know if I can take my PV in my hand luggage?

Cheers perpetua, just need to remember to take charger, and work out how much juice I'll need for 2 weeks vaping in the sun!

Lots Lal. Though be careful of letting your eliquid ' sunbathe ' it doesn't like heat . . . the nicotine content will degrade and any flavour likely to go off quite quickly.

On our RyanAir flights last year, the cabin crew were trying to sell cig-a-likes to the passengers. I did not see a single person buy one. I have not seen anyone vaping on a plane yet, but I wonder what RyanAir would do about it. Would they allow it to happen? I am tempted to try it this summer, just to see.

The e-cigs they sell on Ryanair flights produce no vapour, I asked on my last flight about a month ago! I think they may object to anything that produced anything looking like smoke, I know its not right but I'm almost sure this would be the case.

Lal, we went to Turkey on holiday last year, and I popped my clearomizers with liquid in and vision spinner batteries in the clear sealed bags , you know the ones you are only allowed 100ml of liquids in, and vaped at Stansted airport in the pub there in departures (can't remember the pub chain) Remembered it, it was a wetherspoons pub, we asked if we can use the e-cigs and they were fine with it, My Friend went to spain in april and her vamo, charger, batts , liquid with her and actually took her vamo and filled tanks through in her hand luggage, so hopefully you should be ok

Virgin Atlantic says:- Electronic cigarettes and nicotine inhalers Published 15/10/2009 03.39 PM | Updated 24/05/2011 01.02 PM
Can I carry an electronic cigarette, nicotine inhaler or nicotine solution in my hand baggage?
The use of a ‘stop smoking’ aid is not permitted if it could in any way give the impression to other passengers that smoking is allowed on board. This means that you can’t use any device that emits vapour, has a power source, or produces a light.
I'm taking some 2mg gum for the long haul flight in case I need a hit....

If you go into the toilet for a vape it won't set the smoke detectors off. Tried and tested. Remember that you can't put batteries in your hold luggage

Remember that you can't put batteries in your hold luggage cigarettes will not set of the alarms either! not recommending it, just a point of intrest. I worked as a maintenance engineer for BA, Ryanair and many of other airlines as a contractor on most Boeing, Airbus and other types of passenger carrying aircraft. The smoke detectors they use work on particles disturbing a light beam, neither e-cigs or tobacco will do this, trust me I've tried.

As I said "point of interest", If you come out of the toilet after having a fag any non smoking attendant will twig you 5 yards away!
