In answer to the was it me? Probobly, but they could also make the device's with water tight seals to stop this from ever happening, but untill they all do, you have to blow through your liquid container after filling and mop up with tissue if there is any chance juice has gone where it shouldn't have, mainly down the center hole. And as a last point keep the battery connection dry, if it's gurgling then the battery needs cleaning and the container needs a blow through.

Yes it was gurgling, I will do the blowing after a fill everytime now, without fail, thanks.

New to this lark, had no spare so frustration and panic made me do it, to be fair the way I felt if someone said running down the street, naked, with it in your le ft hand works, very likely I would have tried.

I am going to rice the battery up now, just to see if there's life in the old devil yet.

Re the pin coming out, you actually did remarkably well. Usually when people lift it too far that lil wire snaps and it's a deadun.

Aww thank you. I was so pleased when it started working but not suprised it stopped a few hours later.
