Ok now download this free little program www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and run it weekly. It has a basic registry cleaner within that does a pretty good job of dealing with the essential registry issues and it will wipe the browsers history ect. Then click this www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/ and download a little program that will ensure that all you programs are up to date on your pc. Simple effective and free Yes i love ccleaner had that for around a good 7 years really cant fault this prog tbh.

I think I'm about to have problems with the lappy. The fan is making more noise than the freezer condenser:( If I get my courage up to open up the lappy I expect I'll discover cat and dog furballs clogging the works

I hate laptops tbh clutter they are the devils work according to me.if you do undo it give the fan a lil bit of greasing aswell just on the spindle i just put one drop on mine if they become too noisy.i use a lil wd40
(you gota take the sticker off as the spindle is underneath and this normally gives the fans a bit of extra life too)

I wish you much luck with that project Clutty, I'd need to be either semi sedated/ very drunk, to even consider undertaking such a massive thing. Just finding out how my laptop opened up when I first got it, was like mission impossible, what with Toshiba putting their branding on the wrong way round to how I think it ought to be.

Well when i had my laptop (was my first and last) i couldnt find where the HDD went lol and i errm got so angry i errr, kindaaaa broke the bottom lol so my laptop was always cool lol as it was an old model just for browsing. And i got online instructions and it said it was seated behind the dvd-rw drive and it was but right at the back.Ive only ever sucesfully repaird 2 laptops but tbh i dread it if a mate calls me and asks me to fix a laptop its like lighting goes across the sky lol.

Well I don't recommend pummelling the keyboard in a fit of temper because it kills the lappy dead. That's how I came to get this one

Hahaha, you and me both, Perpy...I've lost count of the times I've struggled to lift the lid on the flippin' thing only to finally twig that it opens the other side .

I can see why scylla complains about dishes left in the sink Have I been posting in my sleep? Perpy, what browser to you use? I would recommend Firefox with Adblock Plus and Flash Blocker add-ons. With a decent antivirus and antispyware, plus keeping progs updated, you should be much safer in the future. scylla

FF & IE Scylla . . . . I don't think I've been as diligent as I ought to be in updating stuff in all honesty, something I really now must improve upon . . . . Glad I'm not the only technically challenged member on the forum Katy - everyone else is so knowledgeable, I'm delighted to have a soul mate!

Thing is, Kev, that it's more likely people complaining about me leaving dishes in the sink than me complaining I thought I must have been telling lies! scylla
