The flat upstairs had 2 friends round last night, they wasn't playing loud music or partying but we heard every word or laugh they made, the friends left and we had to listen to them having a shower and going to bed, opening there bedroom drawers and hanky panky. This morning we heard them using the loo,one of them had a wee and the other a No2,and we heard the drawers again when they got ready.I write this because Wimpeys and the NHBC tell me nothing is wrong.DO NOT think of buying a Wimpey home please, you have been warned. That sounds like an absolute f**king nightmare, have you told them upstairs that you can hear everything? That might force the no. 2 person to maybe place some toilet paper down to "deaden the fall." No but seriously this sounds like something that needs addressing. These new builds are rubbish compared to good old fashioned buildings. It's only going to get worse too.

((((( Yorkshireman ))))) What about a request under the Freedom of Information Act? Have you any solicitors in your area that offer a ' free ' initial consultation session? Are any of your other neighbours having issues? A Resident's Action Group maybe if they are. I'm sure you've thought of all this already . . .

It must be a common Yorkshire thing. Earlier my upstairs neighbour asked her husband would you like chicken pasta or curry? He said pasta, then we had the pots and pans bashing, then the water was run in the bowl followed by more pots and pans bashing, then he dried up. Now he is talking in his sleep, and she has just been to the loo, flushed it and walked back into the bedroom. And I wonder why I don't sleep well ???

All I can add is , if you don't get any joy . Try contacting the media , i.e. whatchdog , tv's don't get done get Dom etc.. I'm sure if they can see your problem they may see tv value and you get your mug on telly and free advice

The painter came today to cover the patch that was plastered when they took a piece of the kitchen ceiling down,he asked me what the original problem was and when i said soundproofing he replied is it Wimpeys?,i told him he was right and he said they are one of there biggest clients for finishing off faults and that there are many more with the same issue.

Listen to their proposals, make notes of what they say (IMPORTANT) and ask them to initial your notes and to conform their proposals in writing.

I've just read this entire thread, and I think that the media, especially TV, is the way to go. Try them all - I'm sure we could help you compile a list of programmes to contact regarding your problem. Wimpey really should be brought to book over this - it's not just the shoddy workmanship which they are charging a premium for, but your quality of life is suffering. Until someone like you brings everyone's attention to this situation, they will just carry on building crap homes and selling them for a profit. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help! Andy P.S. I've just been to the loo, washed my hands and cleaned my teeth - but you probably know that already!!
