In view of the proposed EU classification of all nicotine products as medicine and the strict regulation thereof, I was considering stockpiling as much nic liquid as my meagre pension will allow. My question is - what is the shelf life of nic liquid and does the base (PG and/or VG) make any difference. ???

By all accounts, it has an infinite shelf life if kept in the freezer. Many people have already done what you intend to do. Some members here have enough to last a lifetime!! I am not 100% sure whether PG or VG makes any difference but I would doubt it. Someone will be along shortly to confirm.

Thank goodness other people have done the same - I was beginning to feel guilty that I might start a panic hoarding epidemic!

LOL no, no, been going on for a long time, ever since the word first got out about the EU ban thing. I am still deliberating about it. Knowing my luck, by the time I get round to it all supplies will have dried up!

That is my worry too! If we all show a little restraint hopefully that nightmare scenario won't happen but I really do think that having a little emergency stock would be a sensible idea until we know which way the wind is going blow.

I have a small stock pile in my freezer. Only 2ltr of 75mg PG nic base. At my current nic level of 20mg it should last me just over 6 years, however planning on cutting done so it could possibly last for over a decade.
So you won't need to have much of a high strength nic base in either PG or vg.

2 years is the official shelf life for nic. People (including myself) are guessing longer if you keep it in the freezer. Fridge is almost as good as the freezer since it won't freeze andthere is only a few degrees difference. So if you overshop and need the freezer space popping in the back of the fridge for a bit won't hurt. Overtime the nic oxidizes (turning brown as it does) so it is important to fill your bottles absolutely full. Unknown whether it will react with plastic over time but glass would avoid the risk.

Thanks Monty - all info is gratefully received - I think I will double my nic order in future and stash the extra in the back of the freezer. Must order up some largish glass bottles - can anyone recommend a particular type and/or supplier?

www.ampulla.co.uk/Amber-Glass-Sirop-Bottles/c-25-196/250 ml will fit on your freezer shelf, and is OK to take out one at a time. Amber glass because nic decays in (sun)light. Get childproof tops if you have kids or if it will make anyone else looking in your freezer think twice. I wrap mine in cardboard to reduce the risk of breakage and so that I can write "poison" on it - also the type/strength of nic, maybe a date.

Good advice re the amber glass and 'poison' message Giles. My kids are all up and away but the missus is liable to think it is some sort of sauce that she made and freezed long ago. I don't really fancy roast pork and 72mg mint sauce! . Can you recommend a supplier for the bottles (eBay or other).

Boots - childproof amber glass 100ml 35p each - ask for them at the pharmacy counter. They do 200ml as well, and other sizes.

Giles Sorry mate I didn't see the link that you posted. Cheers. Fred Thanks mate Boots seem very reasonable and no postage involved - that's where I'll go.
