Just a warning. I have received 10 14500 batts today. only a few work. All show 4.2v ish when fully charged. However under load drop to 0.7v = no vape
A few others have also received faulty batts. With the same results.
I have tested with a few combo's of mods with the same results. The good ones work and work well, the bad ones just don't want to play.

(((Lilac)))) actually this thread has been useful to me so thank you The 14500 batteries that I got from DX just before Christmas, have never performed well. Although the labelling is identical to my other Trustfire 14500's the positive end has a larger raised point on them. Keef, a while ago, a newbie on ECF posted on one of the very first threads that Smokey Joe ever posted It was interesting though as it showed that even SJ at one time knew very little about e-cigs

The Slow Boat turned out to be a Jet Plane as my batteries arrived this morning. I've charged them both up and used one today - it works perfectly well but I don't like the way the positive end crushes against the spring when screwing the two halves of the SD back together again - that doesn't happen with the 'special' SD batteries from TW. I dare say it will do no harm however. Fox

Wow that was quick Foxy As for the positive end crushing against the spring, I wouldn't like to say for certain that it will do no harm.

When I removed the battery, I had to 'pop' the spring back to the way it was. The main reason I worry is that Trog told me the spring acted as a fuse and I don't want to damage it. Fox

That's what I was a tad concerned about Foxy. There are a lot of threads on ECF at the moment about exploding batteries. From memory the ones you have just bought are protected & you aren't using them in series (tandem), so hopefully you should be OK but..... I'm just a bit concerned as there are no vent holes in either the SD MK1 or MK11. Should just add that one of the latest reports - the batteries exploding in the chuck, resulting in the atomiser flying off into the owners face, was due to user error. He bought some very cheap CR2's that had no mention on the site that they were rechargeable, stuck them in a battery charger, then stuck them in his Chuck

I've been a bit worried about batteries since i read that thread too, Chrissie I've decided im gonna order some protected ones for my screwdriver from DX, even if they are more expensive, just to be on the safe side. I'm also a bit concerned that the batts i bought from LB for my torch mod said they were protected ones on the site, but no pic of them and there's nothing printed on the batts themselves to indicate they are, but im sure i read somewhere on that thread that the protected 10440's are grey, mine are blue.

Lilac, most (but I'm not sure if all) protected batteries have a small circuit board on the negative end & you can usually see this as a slight ridge when you look at the side of the battery.
I can't remember for the life of me if protected batteries fit in the SD Mk1 ????
