That looks good, probably more cotton than I use on a mech mod. It doesn't look like the cotton is burning. I don't think you need more wick. What mod are you using. IF VV / VW what setting have you gone up too? Are you still using the 1.8ohm coil?
Maybe try less cotton, that amount looks like it's filling the juice wells completely.
Kayfuns can take a little experimenting to get the right amount of wick. The clones have varying size juice channels which confuses things as well. From the looks of it that one has fairly small channels. One of mine has very small juice channels and I found that it needs very little wick, maybe half the thickness that you have there. When I rewick I put the lower part of the chimney on then soak the wick in juice and tuck it into the juice wells and push it to the flat side slightly, so when I look into the juice wells I can see the channels clearly.
Have a play with different amounts of cotton. The cotton should just fit inside your coil.

Hi I'm using an SVD on the wattage setting have gone up to 9 watts but was worried about going any higher, yes still using the 1.8 ohms coil. Will have another try tomorrow with less cotton and reposition the wick as well. Thanks for your help and advice @cornersruns and everyone else appreciate it, will let you know how I get on Grandad

Bad influence? I just like to share what I learn lol Rewicked it today with a lot less cotton, Had a few problems filling kept coming out the drip tip but notice the o ring had not seated and hey presto its a steam engine in my hand Thankyou to everyone for there help and advise its much appreciated. Love the Kayfun Grandad It's always an air leak somewhere if the juice leaks, I used to think it was maybe a wick thing or that but no, every time I've ever had the slightest leak it's been a tank leak. Usually from dropping the thing but once when trying the top fill method, it unscrewed the chimney a little which screwed up the whole vacuum thing.

Thanks for info enjay ive just changed my kfl tank to the ice tank conversion noticed the new shorter chimney top had to many threads on it by 1mm and was not seating properly so rubbed it down on a knife stone and all good. But now im getting juice slighty dribbling from the air hole (dont sound right) everything tight but still it weeps from the air hole. Any ideas people ????

decoy I just tried wicking mine like that video & it flooded worse than somerset in January!....dunno what i did wrong ....perhaps it was watching the video, it seriously affected my CDO disorder... because i noticed it had been flipped (writing on the board was back to front & when he unscrewed the kayfun it unscrewed in the opposite direction....unless he's got a special one with a left handed thread!...lol) So I done it like this: Made the all important cuppa first....then I got some 30awg & twisted it up on the drill Wound up me coil with 8 (coulda been 9 i cant remember now) pulsed it to tighten the coil up & and that came back at 1.6ohms Threaded me cotton through (used some of that funny japanese stuff but I think normal would have been better as it fluffs up better) Put me chimney on & trimmed it off at the top then poked the cotton down each side, soaked the coil & put the kayfun back together & filled it up, It works now without the flooding.....but I get the odd popping noise every now and then ....so no idea where ive gone wrong now There's a fine art to these kayfuns....havent quite nailed it yet

As long as the cotton isn't blocking the juice channel then there's bugga all wrong with that set up The popping is just the juice spitting from the coil, nothing to be concerned with.

That bit confuses me blakey ....I left the juice channel holes clear (so i could see them when i looked inside) on the first build that flooded, when I covered them over with cotton on the next one it didnt flood
