I am at a loss and need some help please. I have recently thrown a battery and a usb charger away believing them to be faulty even though only a couple of months old. I still have problems and I do not understand.
I have 2 different batteries- one brand new and what I am about to describe happens with both.
Firstly the technical bits so that you know exactly what I am using.
I have one usb lead.
I have 2 wall chargers.
Both wall chargers when plugged in light red . The usb lead lights red, then turns green when a battery is attached and charged.
Wall charger 1 says on it - AC 100-240V - 50/60HZ 5V + 0.5V 500mA + 30mA
Wall charger 2 says on it - AC 100-240V - 50/60HZ 0.15A 5V0-5A
This is what happens.
If I attach a battery to the usb, and to wall charger 1 , usb lights red, then goes green within an hour or so. If I attach a battery to the usb and to wall charger 2 it takes around 3 hours to go green.
Unsure why, if one was super fast or something this is what I did. I used wall charger 1 and light on usb went green. I immediately removed usb, and battery from wall charger 1 and plugged them in to wall charger 2 and the usb was red and stayed red for another couple of hours before turning green.
Does anyone know what is happening and why? I can not risk going out with only half charged batteries as some days I am out 12 hours. I am at a loss, and don't know if my batteries are fully charged or not, or if something is faulty.

Hi sammy13. I can't answer your question, but can I just make a suggestion? Have you considered using a usb hub (one that plugs into the mains)? You can pick them up pretty cheap on ebay. That's what I use and it's never let me down.

The LED (light) you need to look at is the on the lead where you connect the batteries, this should start off red then go to green when fully charged, some flicker red/green when charging, this is normal, some gradually charge from red to green going orange midway. 650 batteries may take between 1 - 3 hours to charge fully and larger batteries 1000 mAh may take 6 to 8 hours to charge. Dis-regard the red LED on the wall plug these usually just show that the charger is on.

Is wall charger 1 making the usb go green even though the battery is not charged? Is wall charger 2 not making the usb go green when it should be and overcharging? Is one of the wall chargers broken?

Hi I may be missing something but on the plug what does it say eg. Output 5v 500mah or something like this. Some may continue to trickle charge when over 80% charged like a mobile phone does. Do you have anything else you could try charging like a mobile using these plugs and see if they both perform the same then? RSC

I don't have anything else I can plug into them to charge up. I don't want to overcharge with charger 2 and I don't want to undercharge with charger 1. I really don't know which charger to believe.

Is wall charger 1 making the usb go green even though the battery is not charged? Is wall charger 2 not making the usb go green when it should be and overcharging? Is one of the wall chargers broken? They probably just charge at different rates and have a slightly different charged state threshold (when the light goes from red yo green), I'd just carry on using the one that charges fastest and keep the other as a spare. Some charge leads have lower outputs than others so will take longer to charge. Both ill charge your battery it's just that one can squirt the electricity inn the battery faster than the other. If you feel inclined you can do a little experiment: 1. Choose a test battery 2. Charge on one of the chargers until the light goes green, note the time and start to vape (use as normal) until the battery runs out, note how long it lasted. 3. Charge the same battery on the OTHER charger until the light goes green start to vape (use as normal) until the battery runs out, note how long it lasted. 4. Compare the two running times.

sammy13 - as the light turns green on the USB lead, does the battery light flash when using either charger? I would not be worried about overcharging an ego/riva battery, as I believe they have overcharge protection in them. Do as Des said - charge up with charger 1, note vape time, charge same battery with charger 2, note vape time. If there is discernable difference, use the charger that gives you the longest use

USB light went red it charged for a few minutes then the battery light flashed maybe 15 times or so, and usb light went green. Is that good or bad?

I charged one of my 900 batteries today and it turned green much sooner than I thought it should, I unplugged it and had a look at it and I had not fully screwed it onto the charger. I tightened it up and plugged it back it. It went red again and took another hours charge before turning green.

USB light went red it charged for a few minutes then the battery light flashed maybe 15 times or so, and usb light went green. Is that good or bad? That's good - well, that's what mine do (2 different brands, & i think one does 10 flashes and the other does about 15) This is the battery saying "Woah - I've got enough charge at this intensity". Now - what happens when you put it on charger 2? I guess the USB light will be red? Now, you'll have to watch & see if the battery flashes, but only if it has been only fully charged on charger 1. If it's been fully charged on 2, run it down a bit, charge on 1, wait till battery flashes; charge on 2 and see if battery flashes again. If this is the case, I imagine that charger 2 is 'trickleing' more charge into the battery, & it will run for longer. You'll have to do the other test to double check - and my advise, until you have time to check it all out properly, would be use charger 2. The battery has its own protection circuit, so shouldn't overcharge Keep us posted, & Good Luck

Thanks fred, the battery has been backwards and forwards between both chargers all day with me scratching my head. So is this correct? I use the battery for a few hours, pop it on charger 1 until usb goes green and battery light flashes . I then put it straight onto charger 2 and check what happens.
