I've got quite a few different flavours bought from vendors. Some taste of nothing at all, others horrible (cherry!) and ones I've liked haven't been anywhere near as nice second time around, which is disappointing to say the least!
So obviously why not make your own? I thought. Well I've read a lot on here about it from those of you who do and don't understand a word!
maths isn't a strong point, so, just don't get it!
Is there a mixing for complete dummies guide? Or can somebody start one?

Hi Molly, the easiest way to start mixing your own e-juice is to use recipes that only use one flavouring.
I do this for my all day vape which is a tobacco flavour.
I mix 50ml at a time and that does me 2 weeks of regular everyday vaping. I make it up using 54mg Nic Base and I head for a finished strength of 24mg.
To make a 50ml batch I use the following formula.
54mg PG Nic base....22.2ml Extra PG...................0.3ml VG..........................22.5ml Tobacco Flavouring.......5ml
With this I end up with 50ml of 50PG/50VG e-juice, giving a nice taste with loads of flavour and throat hit.
You can ofcourse make the mixture to 70/30 PG/VG and you can up or lower the amount of Flavouring to suit your own tastes.
But no matter what you end up doing, because it is just one flavouring, it will "steep" very quickly and will be ready for using within 3 days of mixing.
The flavouring you use will be entirely up to you but by just using one concentrate flavour, the whole "mixology" minefield simplifies into a straight forward recipe.

Hi molly. I'll probably be considered a philistine by the mixologists but I use the laziest method there is. I buy 60ml bottles of 36mg PG base and 10ml bottles of flavouring. I bung them both into a 100ml mixing bottle along with 20ml of zero nic VG. That gives me 90ml of 24mg juice at roughly 77% PG, 23%VG. Then I let it stand until the colour looks about right, which is usually no more than a week. It works for me

Is there a mixing for complete dummies guide? Or can somebody start one? Andy's pointed you in the right direction to get your head around the basics first Molly, whilst mixing isn't rocket science it does help to have an understanding of the ingredients you'll be using. A good calculator is essential, as that does the maths for you, many of us use breaktru's: ejuice.breaktru.com/I'd also advise mixing small volumes to start with, until you get to grips with what you're doing a little better. Frogster has a beginners mixing kit that may interest you: www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk/product/mixing%20kitWe can advise you with most mixing questions, but we can't give you any patience, which you'll also need if you start mixing your own eliquid.

As Perpetua says, you need to learn what the basic chemicals are.
Nic Base...... a percentage of Nicotine dissolved in either PG or VG and measured in MGs (milligrams). IE 24mg Nic Base is 2.4% Nicotine. PG.....Polypropylene Glycol. VG....Vegetable Glycerine
Making E-juice is a recipe just like for baking a cake. If you don't know what Flour and Sugar is, then a Cake Recipe would be complete gobblygook.
Oh and don't worry if it all appears a complete mystery. I was (and probably still am) a complete Dummy when I started a year ago, but I got myself a Starter Mixing Kit and it all kicked off from there. Once I had made my first couple of mixes and enjoyed the results, I was hooked from there.

molly it's dead easy, the calculator Perpetua linked does most of the hard work for you, most easiest way to start is to pick a recipe from here : allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/board/40/recipesTry and go for a recipe that is a single flavor not loads of different ones, once you do your first one you will get the jist of it and then it's plain sailing from then on. Some videos here, i ain't watched them myself so cannot comment on them, i just found them on YT:

molly after a think about it may i suggest you have a real good research into mixing before purchasing anything related to mixing, you must get it right and feel 100% sure you know what you are doing as nic base is very toxic and the last thing we want to see is you harming yourself in anyway. You have to treat toxins the same as the old saying, you play with fire and you will get burnt, once you feel 100% positive about it then go for it but not before, best not to dive into the deep end especially when toxins are involved. Have a real good read up on the basics of it and then onto the more advanced part of it, Safety comes first before anything else, there is no rush, gonna quote my nan's saying again, "All good things come to those who wait" Again once you feel 100% sure about it then Perpetua favorite smiley

Super-Shiny - you spoilsport! molly - Here's what I'd do in your position. Have a good read of the thread andy linked to above. Have a look through the recipes, and decide what you'd like to try. Download the EJMU calculator & have a play with it. (It's free ) Get yourself some mixing gear (which you now know what you need, as you've read the threads), including the flavours from your chosen recipes & possibly a couple more. Post on the forum what you intend to do/mix, and wait for folk to tell you if it's right or wrong. Once you've done this a couple of times, you'll know better what you're doing & have more confidence in it. Good Luck.

molly, just a thought. I've only just started mixing with nic liquid, as I was unsure. Before that, I had a go with just the basic (cheap) ingredients, PG/Polypropylene Glycol, VG/Vegetable Glycerine, plus the flavouring that I wanted & some sweetener. It is the easiest, cheapest way to start & will give you a bit of confidence. The liquid you make is still vapable. In fact the vanilla custard I vape is still homemade zero nic.

Do you have someone who lives fairly close to you to help you with your 1st mix. chykensa came and talked me through it, I then wondered why I had even worried about mixing. But as others have said read up on mixing 1st then try and decide if its for you. There is no harm in say only ever mixing up one or two flavours and buying in ready made eliquid as well. Thats the good thing about vaping you can do what pleases you.
