Morning all, Is vaping a long term hobby for you or are you planning on becoming nicotine and vaping free altogether at some point? Also, for those who are either reducing or have reduced nic strength (and maybe reached the magic 0%) how were the withdrawals compared to going cold turkey from stinkies? I know I’ve only been vaping for 6 weeks but I’m already starting to think about how I want to move forward with it; I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t want to be a long term vaper and I just want to use it as a stop gap to becoming nic/vape free altogether. Part of me is thinking that I should go down the route of gradually reducing the juice strength and then stop vaping; the other part of me is already thinking about setting a vape quit date so I can just put my kit away and give up the nicotine and the vaping. Just interested how everyone else perceives their vaping.

Good questions - I'm not sure, but I think I'm now addicted as much to the vaping malarkey as I am to the nicotine! I'm now mixing at 10mg, having cut down from 18mg, and haven't really noticed much in the way of withdrawal or cravings. I can go for much longer without vaping than I ever could without a fag, and I am aiming to get as low as 4mg in the next 6 months. That way, if the MHRA c*ck-up sees the light of day, I can give up the vaping really quickly I reckon! Andy

I am planning on getting down to 0% nic. You won't have any withdrawals from nic itself but you would probably get withdrawals from not having anything to do with your hands which is why vaping is so successful.
So far I have reduced my nic from 30mg down to 24mg, but now mix at 20mg. Next batch I make up will be 18mg and will continue to reduce in 2mg increments until I reach 0mg. Don't care how long it takes, just glad to be off the stinkies completely.

Andy I have enough nic stored to keep you, my friend, your friend and myself in nic for a quite a while at 10mg.

Just interested how everyone else perceives their vaping. I have been vaping 7 weeks now and have decided not to think too much about what and if I will do in the near/long term future. The only thing I am doing is trying to vape 11mg most of the day with a few vapes of 18 or 24 in between when I feel the need. I do like vaping much more than I did smoking. I don't know what I may decide in the future but for now I am just so pleased to be off the roll ups.

I have been at zero nic for about 3 months. I still vape away although not as often. I am thinking of cutting it out altogether just afraid if I do I will pile on the weight that is one of the reasons I continue. I also like it

I also like it So did you do a gradual reduction to 0% or did you just go from nic to zero overnight? I totally get why people want to carry on doing it as a hobby and I did think at the beginning that I would too, but now I just see it as a means to an end (giving up nicotine) so I guess I'm planning my escape route.

Started at 18mg realised almost immediatly that was too high and cut down to 12mg Cant really remamber when I cut down to 8 then 6 then 4 then 2 When I got down to 2 I did every 2nd vape with zero for a while then 2 out of 3 with zero then changed over and can honestly say never had withdrawals or never missed it. I now like the fact that if I forget my twist there is no panic or when I was having the problems with leaking over the weekend it didnt really matter I just didnt bother vaping

I've no intention of changing anything whatsoever about my vaping habit Nfollows, I was a committed smoker and now I intend to be a committed vaper for whatever time I have left on this planet. Perfectly comfortable with my healthier, less smelly addiction. I chain vape when I can, as I chain smoked . . . anything from 10(ish)mg to 24(ish)mg eliquid, because I enjoy it. I accept everyone has their own take on the habit, that's mine and what works for me.

Good question with some interesting replies.
My initial idea was to use e cigs as a step to stopping smoking, not too much has changed other than the timings.
For now and the foreseeable future i just want to get as far away as possible from smoking cigarettes with PV s proving to be the perfect option for me. At some point i would like to stop completely but once again im not putting pressure on myself.
However if down the line it was categorically proven that nothing at all was harmful in vaping then who knows what i would decide, but for now im just happy to massively reduce the harm caused by intaking nicotine via cigarettes for 30 plus years and hoping i have done so before the damage is irreversible ....time will tell on both counts.

Good for you. I have read other threads out there that people reduced their nicotine levels. Some over months, others over a couple of years. Most said it is much easier to give up vaping that it ever was to give up the cigs.A. man I met, Vamo Joe, has a three month plan. He is month two and is now on 12mg (from 24) and next month is 6mg then nothing. I hope it works out for him as he really wants it to. I have no plans, as yet, but if I do it will be done over 12 month period, knocking it down by 2 mls every time. I think it's great you are planning your escape route as it must be what you feel you want to do. I too hope one day I can escape (as vaping is great, but as means to an end for me too) but at the minute Iam just carrying on happily, and glad to have stopped smoking.

Siffy, I think I read (perhaps in the vaping diary thread) about you saying you needed to 'figure out what kind of vapour you are' and I think that's how I feel at the moment.

I understand completley how you feel (join us over on the thread anytime) and you will figure it out, for sure. I vape because Ibhave to as the alternative is smoking again. I vape as I smoked and it is finally stopping the cravings, seems natural now. I have no plans to buy fancy mods or spend a small fortune trying to make myself like flavoured e juice, I want it to taste like a cig, it does, and it gives me comfort. I don't dislike vaping, not at all, but it is not my hobby and is just a much better alternative than smoking a cig. You know where we are (vaping diary) if you need us.

I had no plans to stop smoking but I did after a health scare. I have no plans to stop vaping but I'm guessing at some point in the future, I will probably reduce the nicotine. I started at 24mg. Now at 18mg and I'll be mixing at 15mg soon and gradually cut down.
