Nicky you are doing really well hun Stop beating yourself up, it takes time. I found that I just used the ecig as a change of cigarette brand rather than thinking I'd quit smoking, that worked for me. You could also try putting the cash that you don't spend on cigs into a jar and see how it mounts up, that may also help as you're physically gaining something from the experience too. If you can switch your mindset it may just help to get rid of the 'give up smoking' thoughts Good luck and keep positive x

Well guys i'm back and didn't do so well, i've smoked about 50 fags but i have to say i have the cinnamon and have been vaping that like a trooper and have firmly found my fave vape to date. \My hubby was fishing while we were away and was chatting to chap who was a fellow vaper and i have found my problem, i can't give the fags up because i haven't found an ordinary juice that tastes ir is as nice as my fags, although i do seriously love the cinnamon - like jemima has said i automatically reach for a fag without thinking and have lit it up and thoroughly enjoyed it before i think of a vape.
So in the words of Sir Alan, my search continues.......... for a plain juice.
off to do the mountain of washing now lol

Just keep reminding yourself every time you have a vape instead of a smoke, that that is one less ciggy you had. If you ask me I think that even if vaping replaces 1 cigarette a day then that is a success. 1 may not seem much at the time, but over a year thast 365 less ciggys you smoked, that is a good sign Another thing I found that helps me, is to always keep my Riva in sight or in my hand. The first thing I reach for is the Regal packet, and thast out of habit mostly. If the riva is already in my hand or in front of the packet. I have to go through that to get to them lol It's just an extra little reminder for me. I'd get one or 2 of the pick and mix selections available from different suppliers, give them a try, try them again a week later if you dont get along with them first, then offer to trade. You have a few new vapers doing this journey with you (baking, rog, me) and we are all bound to have plenty of flavours that we dont enjoy and want to trade, and alot of more experianced people here willing to trade also. Or mayeb speak to one of the sellers here, and see if they can do you a selection of prefilled cartridges to try out if you dont want to order a bottle.

hi jemima, Have done all that, i have quite a selection of juices and the only one i seriously like is the cinammon, but i shall keep hold of them as i may change in time.
I think my main problem is i still prefer the taste of my silk cut 100's and i am not aware of any juice that replicates that taste so for me although i do vape most of the time i still want an actual ciggie, which i had hoped i wouldn't.

Oh god I know that feeling lol. Went out for sunday lunch to a pub yesterday, there was a guy standing outside having a ciggy. I could of stood next to him all day, it smelled sooo good :-[ If you want one then have one, sometimes I think denying yourself what you need at that moment can do more harm than good. If you focus on not having one (for me at least) it makes the desire stronger and stronger. I know I still have a pack of cigarettes and my lighter on the table next to me, I still pick them up and put them in my bag when I leave the house, just incase. What flavours have you tried already ? which did u like dislike? maybe I and others here have a few you havent tried and can sort out a swap. Is it the feel and taste of a ciggy you want or you think something with higher nicotine might help ?

I think it's also the feel and taste of the ciggy too though, but hey i'll get there. how are you doing ?

Hi nicky, there's a lot of great advice in this thread but as Jemima says there's a few of us who've started around the same time which is great for support etc. I think all of us are having a slightly different experience with the vaping and cutting down/stopping the fags and that seems to be the case for everyone generally judging from comments across this and other e-cig forums. As has been said before don't beat yourself up when you have an analogue, just count the ones you haven't smoked - glass half full! I've found it relatively easy but I was on 10-12 roll ups a day (with filters which made them lighter strength) and I didn't like the smell or taste of ready made/straight cigarettes anyway so that helped. For you I'm guessing it'll take longer to come to that point so just go with the flow. Additionally I haven't smoked in the house for over 12 years since my wife gave up and my daughter was born (the kids still don't know I ever smoked and I'm not vaping in front of them either). It may be difficult for you with your husband around smoking but perhaps if you force yourself (you could try persuading him too) to only smoke in the garden it'll make smoking seem like more of a chore (it did to me for 12 years). You can then vape away indoors and make that the easy option. It's just a thought but reading your comments I've been thinking about what made it relatively easy for me to stop so quickly (despite having failed in the past using the dreaded patches and gum) ... having said that though I did have a couple of analogues in the first few days and just viewed those ones as part of weaning myself off the things - no worries Best of luck and keep us informed of how it's going.

Just a thought Nicky, but maybe you should grab a lookalike ecig too?
I Think I spent the first 3 or 4 days tryin to figure out how to hold my Riva like a normal ciggy and just kept dropping it lol. If your at home and able to refil and charge the batterys often then maybe it could be the visual similarity that might help a little more? Thats why I went with a white Riva to start with, I'm used to seeing somethign white at the end of my hand not black/steel/pink etc made it a lot easier to adapt to for me.
(was it the black 510 that you got Nicky?)
Rog's suggestion about going outside sounds like a pritty good idea too, maybe have yourself a smoking spot right at the far end of the garden, make it as inconveniant as possible for yourself. Oh and kick hubby out there too lol the "real" cig smell in the air is what has made me weak and feel tempted (at which point I'm practically chewing on the end of my Riva till the smell fades).
I still call myself a smoker if anyone asks, that's why I say I just went digital, if I felt liek i'd quit then i'd be desperate for a cig, but the option is always there to have one if I want one. I just measure it in ml instead of packets now lol
We are all here with you Nicky, just do whatever helps for you.

Write that on a lot of post it's and stick them to everythign lol Dont let yourself forget how well you are doing! Dont force it and go at your own pace and it will come, thats my theory anyway (I'm also hoping it works for lottery wins:))

Not good Rog to be honest, my overwhelming desire is to still have a fag all the time. had a bit of a stressful week this week with one thing an another and i have smoked far more than i would have liked. for some reason i don't seem to get the instant satisfaction from vapeing that i get from a ciggie.
On the upside although i'm annoyed at myself for smoking, i'm still smoking a lot less than i would have done . Thanks for asking.
i see from another post you are doing good, well done.

Vaping isn't really as 'instantly satisfying' Nicky, in that it doesn't stop the craving as quickly. It's more a constant process.
Some people find that using a higher strength juice at certain times of the day does help (1st thing in the morning being an obvious one).
Are you still using your original set up and liquids or have you tried different permutations like low resistance and different strengths of e-liquid?
You are still doing it that's the main thing.

Give it time girl, I was still using both side by side for months when I was using ciggie look a likes. It was a very slow transition for me and I was happy with cutting right down without worrying about quitting but I know people who converted instantly. Everybody in their own good time nicky, don't beat yourself up. It'll happen when it happens.

What the ladz have said Nicky . . . you'll find many long time vapers will also have a few ciggies in the day as well, I believe our Lilac did for quite some time.
There's really no right or wrong to esmoking v tobacco smoking, it's what suits and works for you as an individual, and we're all different . . . the fact you've cut back on ciggies is an achievement in itself.
If it weren't for Low Resistance atomisers and the extra omphage you get with them, I doubt very much I'd have been able to kick cigarettes completely as standard atomisers just didn't do it for me, so it would be worth your while looking at other gear as Jason has said.
