I just fell off my chair in shock!

A while ago, a friend gave me two lovely suede jackets. One red, one light brown. I haven't worn them yet as its been too hot, but now the weather is cooling down I decided I ought to get them cleaned to freshen them up.
Well... I just rang my local dry cleaners to ask how much it would cost....are you ready? Make sure you are sitting down!

£51.50... EACH!!!

Robbing thieving bar stewards!! I cannot believe it. I used to work at Sketchleys when I was a school girl. I know exactly what is done to clean them and this is just outrageous!
Don't know what to do now. I could practically buy a brand new one for that price.

You just made me think. My daughter has recently bought one of those green steam mop things they advertise on late night TV. I will ask her if she has attachments suitable for clothes. I'm slightly worried about ruining them though as they are lovely expensive jackets. My friend lost a lot of weight ad they no longer fit her. I guess I have nothing to lose though as they cost nothing.

funny you say that as he DID have to do that a couple of weeks ago. He got a new controller joystick coz he was sliding the chair down your ramps one and the original controller fell off and hit the road and broke!! we got a secondhand replacement from eBay but he had to rejig it a bit. Works fine now though!

Dry cleaning bills are a joke...........Only consolation Dolly is that they're expensive jackets & you got them for nothing......Am now googling "Setting up a dry cleaning business"......................

Yes very kind of Siffy. To be honest, I have just looked at them, and the only marks on them are on the edge of the cuffs and a bit along the collar of the brown one, which is just normal wear kind of stuff. Tried phoning daughter but she's not answering. Always the way when MUM wants something!! Lol
We have also been thinking of getting our own steam machine. I think this might be the thing that makes us do it.
I don't know how they can justify charging that kind of money just to clean a piece of clothing!

I love my steam machine Dolly, I really do. I have mostly laminate and tiled floors and they come up a treat. I don't overly rate them for the window cleaning function but it really does a grand job at cleaning around the house. I find it does a brilliant job cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen.

Yeah siffy I have been toying with getting one for ages, but we only have laminate in the kitchen bathroom and hallway, but, they do have lot so of other uses.
