Chasing some news on the TPD, it was no surprise to find a worrywart or general sourpuss able to spawn some negative periphrastic journalism to spout a personal opinion on the use of e-cigs.

This sort of thing is pathetic. This is somebody who doesn't like smokers or smoking (having once been one) and just gets off on pointing out how silly we all are not to have given up everything completely.

I have opinions on all sorts of things, but freedom and liberty scored a goal today to make the match more evenly balanced.....and yet.....and yet, some folk just insist on twisting the knife, because it makes their own life seem a little more bearable to take cheap shots against those who don't fit into their idea of world nirvana.

Let me just say Ms Jones.

1) You open your argument by saying "when I was giving up smoking.... I often wondered when scientists would stop faffing around with that Large Hadron Collider and invent a cigarette that didn’t kill you". Well it's here, you even wished for it and just because you gave up doesn't make it acceptable to now throw your starbucks journo cream buns at us.

3) but we already know two things for sure: 1: Repeatedly dragging on a cigarette of any kind will give you wrinkles around your mouth exactly like a dog’s arse. - really? Are you sure....that sounds a little silly to me. Does a 510 drip tip give my mouth the appearance of a dog's anus?

4) For as long as you are addicted to nicotine, you will be enslaved to a profit-making company that seemingly cares naught for your health or happiness. In many cases, these are the same companies that continued to push cigarettes to our parents and grandparents after they were proven to cause cancer. Why should we give them a penny more? - um, NO. Not unless ecigwizard or vapeescape are buying batteries and e-liquid from BAT or Lorillard. (They're not are they..? )

NO, NO, NO. I (we) are not buying our e-cigs from the same companies that make cigarettes...you are presuming this, because you know nothing.

Actually you know nothing, and this is an article born out of arrogant superiority and egocentricity....look it up.

In a tolerant society, we should welcome innovation and products that improve peoples lives. e-cigarettes can do this for those that can't or won't quit. Is that asking so much?

I genuinely could spend all day every day arguing with blinkered ignorant people like this (You find a lot of these on disability benefit related articles which is a huge interest and relevance to me) but I just end up making myself ill with rage and general blood boiling thanks to my ME so unless something REALLY pushes my buttons to the point I feel I have no choice to reply I have to *try* and let them go over my head and end up doing things like this to my monitor instead. Oh really Ellen, I'm not even sure where to begin. You do seem to be the absolute worst sort of person to judge E-cigs, a pious ex-smoker.
Yes I know because you did it the "hard way" and stamped out that evil nicotine addiction, how's it doing by the way - I'm guessing you still get the occasional twinge or urge for a smoke?

Actually sorry the truth is so mundane because I can tell you exactly what's in E-liquid as I make it.
Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, Nicotine, flavouring and bones of small infants... OK I made that last one up - See I can make stuff up too!

there is a mass of data out there done over the past couple of years that still have yet to show any evidence of harm from E-cigs.

Now on to the two things you "know for sure"
1. Mouth like a dogs arse? Not even going to try... Where you drunk when you wrote this?
2. E-cigarettes are made by those Evil nicotine pushers...Big Tobacco! and they're after your kids!!!
Erm... no. Big Tobacco has just started buying it's way into the E-cig market and they'd love to claim it was them that invented the e-cig and made it what it is, but they didn't.
They are jumping on an already fast rolling bandwagon because they have lost revenue and seen the writing on the wall for their traditional business.
E-cigs were invented in China and have been sold round the world for the past 6 or seven years, long before Big Tobacco ever bought an E-cig manufacturer.
You see E-cigs aren't about keeping smokers hooked and never have been they are for smokers who either can't or won't give up to reduce the harm from smoking.

Now I'm sure as a pious ex-smoker you think all addicts should burn in hell because how dare they enjoy being a junkie and not have the decency to die for their habit but there you have it.
Vapers can use nicotine and not die.
And unlike your shoddy attempt at journalism that's not only the truth but it's come form someone who has a clue what they are talking about.
You are an affront to millions of e-cig users and although your attempted smear of millions of people's lifestyle choice is offensive, it's also ignorant and makes you look a little daft.

Sign me up. I'm convinced.

I too can write lazy articles, based on lazy articles written by other people, without actually doing any research myself.
I too can stick myself up on my high horse, and preach down to people to who may or may not have bothered to actually look at the bigger picture and might consider that vanity is more important than public health.
I too can apparently just make up "facts" to back up my made up story.

Where do I sign Independent? I could just be the exact kind of lazy reporter you obviously employ, and publish without any editorial thought.

I mean it would only have taken 10 minutes at most, I would guess to find out exactly what is in most e-juices, to find out that it's NOT big tobacco making all the profits, and that 1.5 million people in the UK are now not supporting big tobacco, paying less taxes, living longer and enjoying living healthier lives.

Of course, it would have taken a little longer if you had bothered to actually read any of the many scientific studies on the subject extolling the use of electronic cigarettes, but who has time for research?

Hahah...this is just one example of all the bad losers coming out of the woodwork after the EU decision. I reckon some people would be more susceptible to lip wrinkles than others and not from smoking either.
