30mg + Licenced?

At the Glasgow Meet yesterday, a UKV Member mentioned that in the recent proposals laid down at the EU Vote, that it had been proposed that e-liquid over 30mg would have to have a Medicines Licence.


I wonder if this would include the sale of Nic Base? 

If it does, then the price of mixing our own e-liquids could go through the roof!!!

I would imagine it would include the bases as well.

That is what I was thinking and although no one picked up on the comment and discussed it, I imagine that a number of folks will be getting seriously worried if this is true.

The lowest strength Nic Base that I have ever bought was 52mg and most of what I have is 75mg.

Thankfully I am now cutting down my mg levels to around the 20mg mark but I know of folks who regularly use 36mg and even 45mg.

Surely the MPs can see that those that need to use Nicotine at that strength are the vey ones they should be bending over backwards to help the most.

And also, if we let government bodies choose to regulate Nic Strength at any level, then it is only a matter of time before those levels get reduced to the point where the tobacco companies win again.
If they cannot win one way they will try another way.

hiya folks. Just a thought, but as this lot should be coming in sometime 2016, why not stock pile your base nic keeps well in the freezer.

also plenty of opportunities currently to get great deals on "group buys", failing that UK sites such as demonvapes are a great price for us members.
At the moment have enough personally to last 12 months, but will be restocking for sure.

Nic base is produced from pure nic and pg or vg right? In the same way that 5.4% is less expensive than 7.2% cos theres less of the dear stuff in it, so 3.0% will be proportionally less expensive again. It will be slightly more expensive mg for mg to buy 3.0% but not massively so, THIS is a good example of that.

Vapers on strengths greater than 30mg are in a very very small minority, they have two choices as I see it, start putting away a stock of 72 or stronger, or use the next three years to decrease their nic gradually to 30, it's unnoticeably easy to do, 3mg at a time every other month; even 45mg users could do it in under a year.

I've gone from using 24 and 18 juices, to using 15 and 12mg, my future batches will all be 12mg, and in the new year I'll drop to 9mg and so on. The thing is I've got 3.5 litres of 54mg in storage, I reckon at this rate I'll need less than a litre to last me forever so 2.5L will probably end up on the classies

If I continue on my 20/24mg, I have enough stockpiled in the freezer to do me for the next 11 years.

However others vape at strengths higher than this proposed 30mg limit and I do, from time to time and in circumstances of high stress, vape an e-juice that is 36mg.

The highest we can import Nic Base has already been set at 7.5% and this figure is ideal because it means that we can mix our e-juices over a wide range of strengths.

If you look at the likes of Nicorette Chewing Gum NRT therapy, then you are allowed to chew 15 X 4mg (60mg) pieces a day!!!!
So why are the EU trying to reduce our limits to 30mg or is this just a ploy by Big Pharma to get at our e-juices?

How anyone could vape at 45 mg strength is beyond me! .. I get severe headaches if I go up to 24 mg from my normal 18 - 20 mg

The chap that presents VVTV regularly vapes at 45mg and advocates it on one of his beginners videos.

I vape at 5 or 6w. I know others vape at 15w. Anything above 8w would make my hair stand on end, but that doesn't mean they are right or wrong. If you want to vape at a high wattage or vape a higher strength e-juice, wire in, its a free country.

I believe the 30mg was decided between different countries limits as they stand,so where some are limited to a lower amount they will actually gain if 30mg sticks. It also left the door open to those who wanted to go for a higher limit ecig with med regs. 45 mg has got to be pretty damn good at stopping you heading for a ciggy.

And will they be limiting Nic Base to 30mg also?

That will push up the amount of Nic Base that you will have to buy if you mix your own.

A question for the people who store nic base in their freezers, what do you store it in ? a plastic bottle would burst and a glass bottle would crack ?
