At least it was dead, Dee. We have the infamous "yellow jackets" here. They are small but fierce. A few years ago, I saw six of them gathered together on the outside of my house. I got the bug spray and nailed them. Two of them flew through the spray and stung me, before they died. Very painful stings.

Sounds nasty Jerry, I can't stand anything that stings! I'm a right wuss when it comes to wasps. This one evidently is harmless, but have to say I've never seen a wasp that big before, I was concerned until I managed to search out what it was

Wasps are evil little beasts, however, being the animal lover that I am, they are still amazing.
Only creature I really detest are flies, however, I still don't kill them, I gently pursaude them to leave my house.

Love it Jerry LOL. That sounds awful Bel, bless her. I've been stung a few times, the last time was by a queen that was hibernating! My blasted cat used to get on the roof of my old house and the only way I could get her down was through the skylight window in my ensuite! I had to hang half way out and had leaned against the side, next thing I new I'd been 'stabbed' twice under my armpit, hurt like hell but the wasp paid dearly

My friend's father removed an abandoned wasp next from his barn a few years ago. Marvellous construction. He tried to donate it to local schools for their nature table. Not one was interested
