I'd make them take me to court and ask where the no vaping sign was. As far as I know it isn't illegal to vape anywhere.....yet.

Before the OP on that thread comes back with the explanation, I'll stick my neck out 0.00001mm and say that IF it's true, OP and the taxi driver were using looky likeys - cos if they'd been using a GGTS or box mod or something else suitably large, they'd have had their pockets felt for illicit substances. And then wandered off happy as larry.

I've just emailed 'mintiemum' through ebay, offering advice and asking for updates.
Hopefully she'll come back to me and let me know.
If so, i'll post what i discover here.
Just so other members know, if i were in a similar situation, there is no way on this Earth i would even consider paying a fine for using an ecig, based on the current law. No way.
She seems to think she has to prove her 'innocence' by proving she was using an ecig...that's not how the law works folks, the state has the burden to prove guilt, the accused *never* has to prove innocence.
So, if some jobsworth decides to try a little revenue raising off your back, by issuing you fines for 'smoking' an ecig (!), be confident that under the *current law*, you have committed NO crime, and there are NO fines you have to pay.
In fact, not too many people know that under our laws, it's actually illegal in itself to issue demands for money as a 'fine', without due process (going to court), so tell them where to stick it.

Hifi, Mintiesmum has posted in the past on FHG saying she uses an e-cig - from memory it is a Mirage real cig lookalike. I posted again on that thread last night with further info about the smoking ban & e-cigs, plus a link to here. Only slightly surprised my post has gone whoosh  Spikey, thanks for doing that, I hope she does get back to you. |
