Hi,
Is there a rule of thumb about how long you should steep certain juices?
I steeped the maple syrup for a week so far but it tastes more "burnt" than anything. :/
It did turn a lot darker as well.
So do fruit based liquids take less steeping time or more?

Lots of juices get darker with age Flavoured juice should last a couple of years if kept cool and away from sunlight.

Most of my flavours have an optimum steep time, but it is different for every flavour. Some of them lose something vital after a couple of months and I have learnt to mix them in small doses. Some however just keep getting better and better over time.
Most fruits take very little steeping time and are vapable very quickly, although they do tend to improve slightly after a week or so.

I find that my tobacco mixes seem to need at least 4 weeks to get any sort of decent flavour and then they get stronger and more flavoursome the longer they are left. I try to mix tobaccos 2 months in advance of when I know I will need them. I just mixed 300 mls of various tobaccos last week to be ready for Christmas.

Although I haven't used Maple Syrup as a flavouring myself, I wonder if a week is really enough steeping. Might be worth keeping it for another couple of weeks at least before deciding what to do with it, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Maple Syrup as Andy says could probably do with 2/3 weeks steeping Satanswombat if it's freshly made . . . fruits don't take as much time, but I do find they go a bit ' musty ' and the flavour deteriorates if left for too long before vaping.

Great info again I'll definitely keep steeping them to see how the maple syrup changes against the more bakery and fruit ones. Thank you again folks.

I have a 50ml bottle of my own vanilla custard that is almost 2 years old now. I found it months ago in a drawer where it should not have been, but I was amazed how well it steeped. I can't mix it to the original recipe anymore because a key ingredient isn't sold these days - and it supposedly contained diacetyl. (The old Vanilla Tahiti from FA - they changed the recipe in 2012)
Now I take a tank from it every now and then - and it's a really great vape.
It is almost inklike black, it is thick and gloopy (almost pure VG) and it wasn't stored in a fridge.
Now there are other flavourings - DV Absinthe comes to mind - that will lose flavour after a couple of weeks.
So yes, you can oversteep - but it all depends on the recipe and makeup of the liquid. It's like red wine - some age well, some don't.
