Just a quick question regards needle gauges. I've just used a syringe to measure some VG with an 18 gauge blunt needle. Boy was that vg reluctant to be syringed, would I better using a different gauge ? I realise if I do some liquid may still be present in the needle which may not be good for accurate measuring. I've also noticed recipe calculators often say ml's and drops, are drops really that accurate ?
Thanks, Jay

JayJMM are a more accurate measure. So you found that VG is a right bugger to use, if your syringe is calibrated, just fill to the required amount and take the needle off...correct amount now in syringe. myself, I obey the old addage... orders (recipies) are for the blind obediance of fools and the guidance of wise men! (think that is accredited to Gnl Lee CSA)

The way I have always done it is to decant my Nic/PG/VG into a medicine measuring cup (ask nicely in Boots) and use the syringe without any needle on. Raise the plunger slightly before pulling the liquid into the syringe, that gives you a little gap between the plunger and the liquid. More accurate and easy to adjust. I have a cup for each liquid. May not suit everyone, but it works for me.

I got a really big tube/needle like thisBut to be honest now I've done a few mixes I quite often will measure all the other ingredients in and then top off the bottle with VG

14 gauge needle, dilute the VG with 5 - 10% vodka and pull the syringe slowly allowing the VG time to enter.

I pre-dilute my VG, pour some off into a measuring cup then draw it up into a syringe, minus the needle. So a combination of all things I guess Jayj.

Everyone has their own methods JayJ i mix for 6 family members as well as myself & always count the drops, i have all the same bottles & droppers & it is easy for me, others may disagree but its just the way i have found easy. The only time i tried to mix with syringes it took me twice as long as normal & i knocked my bottle of VG over & had that to wipe up it was a right sticky gooey mess
