I've heard rumours of a clause that allowed United to sack him and only pay one year of his contract off if they failed to qualify for the CL. Probably thought he was on safe ground with that!

What I don't get about managers and them keep getting sacked etc is this.
They are not people like me, they are footy managers so surely something has gone wrong with the players, after all the manager is not the one kicking the ball, attacking or defending.
If the manager came along and drastically changed the usual squad around, or brought in new players who were not so good - whatever fair enough, but apart from the Evra rotation he hasn't changed the squad around only as needed due to injury.
