WHY would that be then? We are Leeds and we're proud of it. Service all the way. Probably a bit because of the "big club" myth that you all seem to believe and still crying about Ridsdale ruining your club, if you hadn't spent years overspending you wouldn't have been a big club to start with. Can't have it both ways. Probably a lot to do with a few Leeds "fans" down here in Stoke when I was in school constantly goading us local fans. They were genuinely even worse than the United/Liverpool "fans". I was absolutely overjoyed when Leeds imploded and a few years of reversed fortunes still haven't quite eroded the bitterness away. As I say, a few more years left in the wilderness for me... Sorry [Edit:] Oh and Chris Fecking Moyles too! MMMM perhaps you should look into facts a little deeper. It wasn't years of over spending - it was Ridsdales expenditure when LUFC were in the Champions league spotlight that cost us a financial meltdown. After several seasons of highs and lows the club are currently going through a new period. Currently lying 6th in division 1 , with a possibility of premier league football next season. Not many clubs would turn away a tourism influx of 7,000 Yorkshiremen in one city. Unlike your Naughty 40. ( Delilah ) We're Leeds and we're proud of it !

Thanks sammy13... wasn't expecting that. Don't want to disrupt this thread, I do like football, I just don't like the money and prima donnas involved in it. I want to see teams playing for their club, not for what they think they'll personally make out of it. Same goes for Formula 1 & other sports ... For the first time in ages I started to watch the Grand Prix today... but switched over within 5 mins, so boring, just a procession, bring back Mansell, Senna & Prost. Cricket?... I couldn't even begin without swear words... but they still pick up their inflated wages. Rugby, in both codes, is where I have any respect for the players, which is evident when you see them at the end of a game. Battered and bruised, they still applaud their opponents. Real gents. It really is a sick world where people are paid for failure, whether in sport or business... but I will not hijack this thread anymore... to all you footie fanatics... go for it!

Sorry sammy13... (fully expecting to be flamed )... but how can a normal person be excited about 'lads' kicking a bag of wind around a field and being paid a fortune (regardless of win or lose) ??? I know I'm in the minority, and I did play footie as a lad (probably jealous that I didn't make the grade) but why do they always let me down when I bet on them. I will answer this first. Footballers get paid way too much, way way too much. At least aboad they work every day, charity stuff etc. How many footballers here have continued to be big abroad??? None. Bale is a flop ,Thierry Henry even Beckham struggled. So you are not in the minority at all , they are overpayed nobodies at the end of the day
Bale a flop 7 games ......5 goals/5 assists , seems to be doing fine for Real Madrid

I agree with a lot of what you say about professional sports. However, football in particular is a part of the culture and i like the fact that it links me to where I grew up, and gives me something to talk about with people from all different walks of life. I will add that rewarding failure is wrong, but refusing to pay for failure in life would stop anyone taking risks, shutting down innovation and stagnating markets, scientific research and art - but that's getting waaaasay off topic

You join in whenever you like Raffles. All the big players get paid too much money full stop. I would have new rules, paid per game, not paid if sick or on the bench etc but unfortunately footballers and their pay doesn't seem to exist in the real world. There are people starving on the streets, but Rooney the little fat f***er gets £250k per week for doing nothing. Still it pays for his hair transplants ???
As much as I love my footy and I do, and will take anyone on over it, at the end of the day the footballers are normal people and should be paid a normal wage with a little premium for been good.

Bale a flop 7 games ......5 goals/5 assists , seems to be doing fine for Real Madrid He has failed at real Madrid, that is why they are looking to send him back. Whilst the above figures may seem good on paper, he is not good enough to fit into a world class team such as Rm. I am hoping he will find his feet there, as he is a quality player,as the above statistics prove, just not good enough for RM at the moment. I follow European football, and Bale was one of the best in England - end of - I am not critiscising him in any way, just pointing out that expectations are higher in Europe. I'm editing my post now to try to get across what I mean - Ozil was exceptional at RM, but although he has scored at Arsenal he has struggled, Modric shined at Spurs but has done nothing for Rm, Drogba is keeping Galatasary going but did better at Chelsea.

Good luck to those with teams playing tonight. There have been some strange scores this weekend.

Sorry sammy13... but Bale has just scored a hat trick which secured my treble of 'over 2.5's ... I've won so much money that I don't know whether to have a takeaway or another half bottle of whiskey ???

Well done Raffles on your treble, What's it like to get a bet up? My accy has gone down on the ncaa. Sammy - Bale is having a outstanding start in his first season with Madrid. 3 goals plus an assist tonight and fine free kick the other night to add to his season tally. I don't think he will be going anywhere fast. Don't forget he was out for a couple of games with a knock/

You wouldn't believe the number of 2nds and the one team in an accumulator that lets you down. It does get very personal.

Raffles Well done all the same. treat yourself to a small bottle. I know the feeling with either last minute goals or beaten by short head. I use to think I was bobby box from big deal series, still do really. No wonder I'm skint. The only account I use nowadays is with skybet.
