Right I might get a cyber slap for this but I'm going to say it anyway. All the benefits pointed out are purely the benefits of quitting smoking alone. They're not benefits of quitting and switching to vaping. This "health poster" is titled "benefits of switching from smoking to vaping" It's a false claim. Don't forget I'm a vaper and I'm on the side of vaping and one of the things I can't stand is the false unfounded propaganda by the anti vaping morons. If they saw that claim they would very quickly say that vapers are making false claims of health benefits if you switch to vaping. It may be all in the wording and this "health poster" could be seen as implying the health benefits are from switching. Lets be honest the anti vaping brigade use wording against us, we don't do that. alansi I hope you don't think I'm slating you. Of course I'm not and I'm glad you put this up as it demonstrates how easily wording can be used for or against us. charon I believe the gmc already recognise the health benefits outlined when quitting smoking, they would not agree they were as a result of switching though. I hope I haven't riled anybody as these are my opinions and I feel they're valid. Peace to all, Jay

Alansi I appologise if you think my post is a criticism of you I assure you it isn't. The benefits of vaping opposed to smoking are clear and I'm certain that is what you are demonstrating. I've seen you around the boards regularly and seen your valuable input I'm just opposed to the health poster claiming the health benefits are a result of switching, not purely stopping the stinkies. I think it demonstrates how things can be misunderstood and I wont make any allegations against the site that has published it, but the anti vaping lunatics may well say that is the intention of eliquidlabs to mislead for there own gain and that could lead to negative publicity. JayJ, I agree with you. Especially the long-term effect on your heart from sticking to pure nicotine. This is not known, and we should not be making, or propagating, claims.

barrynorton I'm glad you see where I'm coming from. I think the long term effects of nicotine intake will be a fraction of a fraction in comparison to stinkies and the thousands if other chemicals involved. My feeling of well being has improved dramatically since giving them the boot, i feel as though my health is improving daily. That feeling would have been the same without vaping though had I managed to give up the stinkies. Yes vaping has made it easier much more so and I will never doubt that, patches or gum couldn't do it and I'm appreciative of this fantastic community and all the help and support it's given me. Jay

Had never tried gum or patches, but I'd tried the Nicorette inhalator and I'm quite sure I'd have been smoking for decades more if that was all available. I'm unshakably convinced that, apart from cutting out the tar and the carcinogens, that if I vape for the rest of my life this will be better for my heart. I'm equally convinced, though, that there would be further benefit from not waking up every day and wanting caffeine and nicotine. Neither can I quantify that, though, nor see it happening.

JayJ - I completely agree with regards to making sure that the right message is given out about vaping, and not making statements that don't stand up to proper scrutiny. Until some proper research is done that is not funded by any group associated with tobacco, big pharma, or the ecig lobby we will forever have claims and counter claims. I started vaping with my eyes open - but I, like just about everyone else on here, know from experience the benefits it's had on my life, at least in the short term. The long term remains an unwritten book, but I can't see how my prospects will be worse than they were when I smoked.

That's a great post, I agree with what people have said, but how many people looked at the time line and thought, "that's where I am" I know I did
