Went for a Chinese this evening with Mrs Poo and our two little Miss Poo's, well Hannah was home from Uni so it would be a shame not too. We went outside for a quick vape after the crispy duck as you do, actually it was more out of habit than need, but there you are, no one else outside because there are just fewer smokers these days, even though the restaurant was packed.
Half way through the mains the chap on the next table went outside and came back from his ciggy break, and immediately the smell hit me, probably made worse by the fact he was three feet from me, but flippin' 'eck it was acrid. It wasn't like it just lasted while his chest cleared the last of the smoke, I could still smell him ten minutes later, but a nasty bitter smell. Not nice at all.
Now I'm not anti smoking in the least, each to their own in every decision in my opinion, and it's only seven months since I gave up myself and I've had a few fags in the meantime, but Jeese if I'd have realised how bad I smelt at the time in hundreds of similar situations I'd have thought long and hard about giving up sooner, if not for my health then for the embarrassment of smelling that flippin' bad. When I think of what I've made my non smoking mates and family, and most of all the little Poo's put up with I positively cringe with shame.
The point? I dunno really, but I'm glad I only smell of vanilla custard these days that's for certain.

I'm not against smoking either, after all it would be quite hypocritical of me to say any different being as I smoked and liked it very much for many years. But I can identify with you. I got into a taxi not long ago and the driver had just finished smoking as the entire car smelled of it. I thought to myself, is this really what I used to smell like? It was rather vile. Funny how when you are a smoker, you can't really smell it. I use the usa blend most of the time now, I find it gives me the closest thing to a real smoke. Without the smell of course. There are so many added benefits to not lighting up, losing that smell is only one of them.

My next door neighbours smoke as do the ones across the back, but they all go outside into their back gardens to do so.
Now I cannot enjoy my own back garden because of the stink of their cigarette smoke.

Outside the pub is worst, closely followed by the supermarket, our Tesco local smells like a nightclub outside the doors, eeuurgh We went to Fort William earlier in the year on the Three Peaks Challenge, I remember standing outside Morrisons on the cash machine and my jowls started watering like when before you throw up! Feel sorry for you not being able to use the garden though

Och it really just depends which way the wind is blowing, but later in the year I hope to replace my garden hut with something bigger and I can get in there and use it as a Vaping Den!!!!
It just annoys me that these pillocks will not smoke in their own house because of the stink, but they will pollute my garden with it.

I'm always really conscious of anyone who has had a cigarette during their break at work . . . I've to use the smoking shelter to vape and I'm very pleased when there's only me using it. As hypocritical as that now sounds. Though it's not all bad as I've converted one lassie and her BF to vaping as a result of sharing the shelter with her.

There are so many added benefits to not lighting up, losing that smell is only one of them. In Northern Ireland (and I would have assumed elsewhere in the UK) it has been illegal for both drivers and passengers to smoke in taxis and all public transport since the smoking ban was introduced (enclosed areas accessible by the public) .... a fine up to £5000 can be given to repeat offenders.

Now that I've stopped smoking I notice the smell of smokers- never did before, and it is rank! Thing is I still love the smell of fresh cigarette smoke.

Oh I still love the smell of fresh tobacco smoke too but obviously not overly keen on the smell of stale smoke as you can imagine. I just think our poor families had to put up with the unplesant smell. I'm just glad I never smoked indoors ever and that the staleness has not soaked into the sofa and home furnishings.

I like the smell of fresh cigar smoke still, and I thought I'd never get over the smell of fresh cigarette smoke but lately I've started to really dislike it. I had a few fags on holiday the other week but the underlying taste I realised is like tarry oily acridness, and that's what the chap in the restaurant smelt like, not nice at all

One of the things I did miss as a smoker as time went gradually by was the smell of lighting a cigarette with a match , the combination of fresh smoke and sulphur ummmmm it was like heaven ( at the time ) but no more sadly but I guess its for the best.

In my job I see up to 15 people a day for assessment in a fairly small room, since quitting ciggies the room seems to reek when a smoker comes in, especially if they've just had a fag outside. One of the assessment questions is about smoking and I have to resist the urge to tick the box without asking the question...it seems just a little too patronizing plus I figure they could have just been standing near a smoker, but if they say no then I do emphasise the risks of telling porkies, just in case. I had an embarrassing moment when a colleague walked by and without thinking I said ' I didn't know you smoked!' She looked a bit surprised and asked me how I knew...oops. We then had a nice little chat about the benefits of vaping, hopefully another convert before too long methinks..

Treat yourself! A box of Matches only costs 10p, might look a bit weird tho, 1 person sniffing a lit match. Cheaper than a new Shiny!!!
